You don't even need to get into the AMG or M cars, even a V8 X5 is an incredible vehicle from both a performance and comfort standpoint.
This I why I love the X6. People know that you paid way too much for an SUV that isn't even practical. That is true balling

I don't get x6 owners. Might as well get a g wagon and be true badass. Or a used masarati. Bawling is all about perception

I will only buy an X6 because it is a sure hit in a comicon expo. Not practical and pretty ugly SUV.

Not sure there's much to get about the mentally insane with money.

BMW wanted to test this theory out.

Turns out it actually works, the X6 being proof of it.

Budget baller vehicles will blow your budget unless you work on the car yourself. Driving an older luxury sedan doesn't necessarily make you a budget baller - it may be the opposite. I'd love to have an E39 540i but its operating costs are through the roof. Most of these try hards are buying the entry level 10-15 yr old models (323i's, A4 2.0) and then slapping on 20" rep rims while the vehicles are beat and not great condition. Meanwhile they're going broke paying for repairs, not very baller.

You judge a budget baller by their career. For instance, someone who works a low end/entry level job that drives a BMW or Lexus. You can drive a 10 year-old Ford Escort or Honda Civic, if you have a JD, MD or MBA and the career to boot, it doesn't matter everyone will think you're baller. Guys, the girl, her family, your family. Worth far more than any BMW.

So, you can't truly tell until you talk to them, but those with the actual credentials can almost always tell because they've been around actual successful people enough.

Want to be baller? Tell the girl you like that you're an ER Surgeon. Or that you're a Federal Prosecutor looking to run for office. Won't matter what you drive. You could show up to the date in a Chevy Cavalier, she's closing the deal and you won't have to do anything. A decent looking 35 year-old Surgeon could show up to Moxie's at Fort McMuray (land of BMWs/Mercedes) in a moped and have first dibs with hooking-up with any girl there.

That's real status. Try to obtain that, forget about the BMW.

I didn't accept my A4 because it would give me "baller" status (I mean how can a 10+ year old car even do that?) but because it was a nice car. Likewise, I'd consider a modern Corolla "fancier" than my car by a longshot.
Actually, sneakerheads totally do that with Nike/Jordan drops. The hypebeasts want the newest Nike drops immediately - they line up outside for them.

Funny thing is budget balling by most definitions is sticking to a budget and buying below normal costs. The only negative connotation I found traces back to people on RFD.

No, there's always negative connotation among the elite when someone not elite tries to play it off like they are. For instance, people who wear suits/ties, drive a BMW, and walk around in a nice watch when they work a job that definitely doesn't require a suit, and pays them $30,000 a year.

No one elite is looking at you going "Oh wow, look at their BMW/Audi they must be baller." They're thinking "pretender." At parties, no one cool is thinking "Oh wow, he drives such a nice car" they're thinking "He works a crappy job but drives such a nice car, sad."

I didn't say there was no negative connotation, there were a lot of definitions that involved saving money and none of them cited buying a used luxury car.....except links back to RFD. Now in regards to the topic, people can buy "Luxury" cars via making the payments. Some do because it makes sense with how they make their money and some do because they only have the money to make payments. Some people that saved up to buy the same car used actually put more money down if they buy it cash.

Either way, there are people who really like cars, but can't afford new. People that can afford new, but choose to save/invest. People that can afford new and see the car as an appliance. People that can afford new and buy new but have no savings. People that can afford new, have tons of money and still buy used. The truly wealthy don't have time to care what's on your wrist or what you drive, it's those that want to play some game, like little kids and get upset that someone has better/similar appearance.

Unless you bought it cash and it was new and you have a proportionally amazing house that is bought and paid for. There. True balling. Anybody else is budget balling. Oh yeah. If you were willed the money or won it in the lottery or if your parent ever gave you a dime in support after the age of 18 via free trips, extravagant gifts, education, free babysitting etc, since you didn't make all your cash or were supported in some way, the wealthy think you are budget ballers.

^^^ Not really. As I said, they just don't waste the time judging everybody. The pay is nonexistent or has a low rate of return.
