I thought you already bought your 6?

Used Mazda 6 GT Station Wagon / Hatchback, any comments?
I noticed there are some used Mazda 6 GT as either station wagon or 5 door hatchback for sale recently, at really attractive prices.
A quick google only returns a couple of complains about it, which I belive it's quite ok, nowadays you can find someone somewhere saying bad words about something. I am just wondering if anyone here owns one of these and how do you feel about it
. Thanks! - Bob

I just find the rear end ugly, that's all. The other versions of the 6 look great but I dunno the rear of the wagon version is just bad IMO.
The 3 and the 3 Sport (hatchback), they both look fine, so I don't know why they did what they did with the 6 wagon. It's not as bad as the 5 which is perhaps one of the ugliest vehicles on the road, but it's not pretty either.

Hi Jeff, no I haven't bought it, I am still thinking if I should. I probably will, thank you for your help with the VIN.
I haven't really seen a Mazda 6 station wagon. The two 6s I tested so far are all hatchback, the rear looks alright to me. I agree, the 5s are ugly.

I have a 2004 Mazda6 sedan 4cyl... no problems so far. If you are looking to get manual, the clutches tend to go out quickly on some pre-2006 models i've heard. Some annoyances are rattles in the car, which are a little more present in the hatch. Nothing drastic tho. The car handles like a dream and is way more fun to drive than its direct competitors IMO.

if u want slightly used, 20ish - 30 000ish km, around $25000, for fun, manual,
i say get a 2006 mazdaspeed 6....
TURBO + AWD + made in JAPAN = flawless....IMO

On mazda boards you can find many complaints about shift shock in the automatics both in the 4 and 6 cyl Mazda6.
Mine still has that problem (though I have a 4 cyl engine) even after they updated the powertrain computer.
My advice is test drive it and be really sure you like the upshift, particularly 1-2 and 2-3._______________

We have an 06 GS Sport Wagon with GFX and GT packages. It looks very similar to the GT on the outside except for the wheels. Personally, I think it looks really good for a wagon. The rear looks good with the black trimmed lights but the regular clear/silver ones look awful.
During 2+ years of driving it, we had a leaky cam seal and had to replace the rear pads and rotors. The brake problem was the result of a stuck rear caliper which IMO shouldn't have happened since the dealership was supposed to service the brakes during its regularly scheduled maintenance. I argued with them that it should be under warranty but to no avail.
Otherwise, it's been a pretty good car. Fuel consumption isn't good though. I don't get that much better mileage on the highway compared to the city.

I got the 2006 Mazda6 GT wagon 6 spd ATX with Performance Package (HIDs and 18" rims).
All US wagons have the Duratec 3.0L.
A year into it I got that nasty shift shock. 2x dealers knew right away what the problem was. Took a day to repair under warranty. Something about a faulty valve in the ATX.
CONS:
Depreciated a lot
factory tires useless in deeper snow/slush
factory roof rack expensive to install
dog/luggage divider-net thing doesn't hold back smaller dogs
automatic climate controls a bit confusing
rear view mirror automatically dims at night. Too dark when rear glass is tinted.
Rear bumper plate guard accessory is ugly but a must to protect bumper from scratches.
Front tow hook is in a brutal location on US models.
PROS:
One of the better looking wagons
Height leveling HIDs
Handling
6 spd ATX
Bose speakers with a sub squeezed into spare tire meets my needs
Lots of air bags
I think 2006+ has the bigger brake calipers

Thank you ... ...
Thank you all for sharing your Mazda experience with me. I have narrowed down my selection to 2 Mazda 6s.
First one is a 05 GT hatchback, Dark Grey, Manual, 66K Km, Leather and Sunroof, in good condition. It will be a lease take over, the owner is willing to pay cash incentive, to bring down the monthly payment to 270 (tax in). Buyback price at the end is about $16K before tax.
Second one is 05 GS Station Wagon, Light Green, Manual, 58K Km, no Leather no Sunroof, in great condition. Owner bought a new Toyota from US, so he is willing to let it go for 12K before Tax.
I test drove both, and they both feel great, so a very tough decision for me.
