Why not just get an Accent or something?
I've driven a "smart" car before.
TERRIBLE.
My friend also test-drove it.
TERRIBLE.
Maybe they fixed the horribly lagging automatic shifting manual transmission by now... literally 1.5 seconds between gear shifts, and not smoothly. If you like whiplash please buy this car.
Seriously, how can you even justify this purchase if you care about your money? IF you have boat loads of cash and don't care what you get then go ahead, otherwise it is a no-brainer not to get this car.
Pick up a 2000 swift or accent or what have you for $4K and call it a day.
