You CAN backup/upload stuff to usenet if you really want, but that's not what the 200GB is about. If you do upload, anyone would be able to download it, though I doubt anyone would. 200GB is basically how much you can download from the server (maybe upload too?). It's like your monthly bandwidth limit from your internet provider (except not monthly). These usenet block deals aren't just 200GB of space on the cloud for you to use. Take a look at one of the guides/links people posted earlier for a clearer understanding.

I trust their uptime. I only bother with blocknews because of frugal's low retention. But you are right, if you're worried about a network outage, the two are a bad pair.

The point of having a backup is because your primary provider is missing pieces (or retention too I guess). It doesn't work well when your primary and backup are using the same back-end provider.
Ie. People use SunnyUsenet or a Highwinds reseller for primary because their prices for unlimited accts are good, and a block backup elsewhere.

You're going to want to sign up with a usenet provider that only has servers in Europe.
One of those would be Hitnews. Their retention is only around 900 days, though, and I find that my download speeds are about 1.9MB/s-2.2MB/s, whereas before on Astraweb, I'd get close to 3.2MB/s

They still perform DMCA take downs (at least Xsusenet, Gibinews while they were around, and SunnyUsenet). Some are just really fast with takedowns (almost immediately like Astraweb) and some are slower (hours to days, like many EU hosts). But not all content providers submit DMCA takedowns right away too, and some content owners monitor better than others, etc. There are lots of factors.

Is it a easy process to setup a secondary backup block account on sabnzbd where it would only use the backup if there are missing blocks from primary?

Yes. Add a server, then check off the "Backup" checkbox.

Does anyone know if thecubenet's unlimited deals expire? I signed up last year for their Black Friday deal and didn't know if that monthly pricing continues after the yearis up or should I be looking for something new this year?
Thanks!
