User Status Requirements Called into Question ("How to become a Deal Addict")
I know that in the FAQ it explains how to become a "Deal Addict"
Here are the number of posts you need to get to the next member level:
0-99 Newbie
100 Jr Member
200 Member
500 Sr Member
1000 Deal Addict
It REALLY bothers me to see all these so-called "Deal Addicts" who never contribute anything "useful" to the forums / deals sections and simply reply quick one word or useless replies to threads (over and over often within the same thread) ....
I think what determined the level / status of a user should take into account the number of posts, but should NOT be the ONLY factor.... ACTIVE Time logged in could be a good one (anyone can be logged on and leave it, but if they're browsing then they're actually visiting the site ... and perhaps (if nothing else) taking away info and spreading the good RFD word..
Another good thing to take into account would be the amount of users the user RECOMMENDS / refers to RFD ....

Who cares?
Personally, I think deal addict sounds bad. I agree with you 100% about the useless replys. Especially the ones that say "in before lock"
I always try to contribute sometime usefull and I seriously doubt you will see any of my posts that have one or two word replys.
As for titles and status, they are just as useless. Who cares if you have 1000 posts? I have seen the posts where people reach the 1000 mark, I don't bother replying to any because it is just a stupid waste of bandwidth. There is nothing usefull in that thread what so ever.
If you want, you can reset my status to newbie anytime. Doesn't change who I am.

It's just a title. Let it go, dude. It will set you free.

All "Deal Addict" means is that you are addicted to the RFD forums.
Other than occasional marking of milestones, I don't think anyone really cares about post counts.

I'd probably rather not know that. It'd be way too high in my case.

Becoming a Deal Addict should have specific requirements, like: having a deal posted to the main page, 5 deals in the Hot Deals/Freebies boards with 100+ replies, things like that.

Yeah I prefer "Sr member" than "Deal addict" personally. It sorta sounds like you go from a wise and respected member to a no-good cocaine sniffing addict or something. LOL!

You're "REALLY" bothered by this? Then you are perhaps emotionally unstable.
Let it go. Take a few deep breaths. I don't even look at the left side of the screen when I'm here.
As for making overly complicated requirements, who's going to check them? Why not elimate titles completely? They really are meaningless, and it's not like they're particularly original, and it's not like they are useful in determining the validity of a post/person/trader, so drop them. Let people their own byline or something.
People who worry about peripheral issues like this are ideally suited for positions in government beaurocracies.

if you have more than 1000 reply ....you should know how much time they are spending on this forum
even if they are not have any big thread or anything but by reading and reply to those threads, they would be call Deal addicted
but for me....i just care about the deal......the status...what ever it is...i don't care
as long as i can find good deal and as long as i'm fast enough to the deal....
that's all i care about
