Hi,
Going to the USA for a week or so and would like to be able to use my cell while I'm there - only for texting and talking. Am using an older Motorola phone, don't know if it is locked or not but my guess is that it is locked. Would really appreciate any help on how to make this happen for the lowest cost. Thanks.

how old is it? i have an older lg chocolate that doesnt even have a sim card in it - the battery is basically the sim card so make sure yours has one to begin with. not sure how much prepaid phones cost in the states but it may be cheaper to buy a 7/11 prepaid phone down there if they have a decent sale as they do up here and just use it. they have better plans for the money and i cant imagine the phones being more expensive - also some like 7/11 have 1 year expiry dates on any time you put on it so you can use it again if you travel within a year or just buy a new sim.
i'd see if you can check out us websites for prices._______________

what I did was get my phone unlocked, then went to a mobilicity store which gave me unlimited talk text and data for $10 (free sim card promotion as well). The $10 was enough for 3 days.

I k now the phone... It is a old Cdma phone... You would need a phone that takes a sim card... Pick up a cheap pay as you go phone once you get down there

Call your service provider and ask what would be the best deal . When I travel in the US and Europe I just call ahead let them know when and where I'm going .
I am with Bell now but Rogers had a similar deal .
