Using LCD as my monitor?

HI guys,

I have been in to my friends home he is using a LCD TV as his monitor a 42" to be exact. Will this display the same resolution as the normal thin LCD monitor?

It should have either 720p or 1080p resolution on the tv, most likely the latter. Most monitors these days above 21" and up to 27" have 1080p reaolutions the tv COULD have the same resolution. That said, the tv is a larger screen so pixel density is much lower and stuff will look bigger.

I used a 27" TV LCD for a few years... worked ok; the real trick is to get one with 1:1 aspect pixels, you need that for tack sharp text and keep the brightness way down if you want eyes when you get older.

Exactly.. just make sure the TV supports 1:1 pixel input or else text will look like crap

Fine for gaming and watching videos but I wouldn't use a TV for color accurate image editing.

You might get dizzy and headaches if you're very close to the 27" monitor.

Depending on LCD, it could do 1080p (1920x1080) or 720p (1280x720)...
Also VGA, DVI, etc will have a impact on quality! Avoid VGA if possible.

Watching on my 40" Sony Bravia. There is a computer setting for 1080p and 75Hz. Looks fine to me. Text as well as graphics are very clear...

Its a great idea to use LCD as monitor. If i use my LCD as my monitor then i will get bigger picture on my computer. So, i want to apply this new idea on my PC.

Yes you can use it as your PC monitor. My friend is using 52" LCD HDTV as my monitor, and it's connected to my computer using a DVI-to-HDMI cable. Works perfectly, displaying 1920x1080 resolution.

This is good right? I am planning to buy one next week though, but what size and brand is appropriate, also I want the t.v. to be still connected to my monitor and put the LCD TV on the wall so if I will watch a movie, I can go to my bed and watch it while using a wireless keyboard and mouse.
