It's going to vary, property to property and from city to city depending on the water rates. If you're looking at a property the owner should be able to show you the gas bills to give you a rough idea. We are a family of 5 (2 teenagers) and our hydro runs about $150 in the winter for 2 months, more in the summer as we have pond pumps and a pool. The same for our water.

Feb 22nd, 2005 05:18 PM #5For sure.. I'd say about 60-100 per person (I live with 6 other people). Wait are you talking per person or the whole house?

We have 4 showers/baths per day and the total for us (gas, water, electricity, hot water tank rental) is about $3,000 per year. I would expect it to go up slightly because we only got sod late in the summer, so this year we can expect to water more.
Our house is quite new, so it is as insulated as any normal house would be. We use CF lights everywhere we expect them to be on for more than a few minutes, we have a programmable thermostat that really helps out in the winter, not as much in the summer.
We have low flush toilets, water saving showerheads, front end washer, but no gas appliances (although I love to BBQ and I don't wait until summer).
