There are some absolutely ridiculous prices verifying on Vayama.com from Seattle to Asian destinations at the moment.
The #1 (and only) rule? *Do not call*, either Vayama or the airline. That will kill the deal faster than anything. Just book it online and hope for the best. Do not call to ask about seat selection, or anything else, you can do that later, once your ticket has been issued.
Here's some of the crazy prices I've found so far (other dates are likely available). Click through to Vayama.com to see the verified prices.
Tokyo in Aug - $548 roundtrip after taxes

Tokyo in Apr - $413 roundtrip after taxes

That's not all though, you can substitute Bangkok, Thailand into the searches above to find other prices that are pretty insane as well.
Bangkok, Thailand - from $531 roundtrip after taxes
example: http://www.kayak.com/flights#/SEA-BK...11-15-flexible
Other major Asian city hubs would probably be worth a look as well. Share if you find any. I'll update if I find others.

I just went to japan and found Tokyo to be very inexpensive. Stay at any Toyoko Inn near the Yaminote line and you'll be blown away by prices and how nice the place is. Toyoko Inn in Ikebukuro was my favorite.
The only thing I recall being expensive was fruit.
Japan is way cheaper than Australia.
Also, if you'll be travelling between cities consider getting a Japan Rail unlimited pass before you get to Japan.
Msg me if you have any questions.

Japan is so friggin' cool. I had such a blast.
The only thing is, you NEED to do some research before you go about traveling there. EVERYONE is so helpful, but very few people speak English.
Print out a sheet with some basic translations like "I want to go to ..." You need to know things like the only ATMs you can get money out of is at 7-11s and Post Offices.
It's illegal to give travelers a phone number so SIM cards are almost impossible, excepting data-only sim cards. Find my writeup on this in the XDA forums otherwise you won't have service. With cell service you can use Google Translate for some basics, and maps helps.
Like I said before, the Toyoko Inn is the ONLY place I would stay in Japan. The one in Ikebukuro region of Tokyo was the best location being right next to the Yaminote Line.
Oh, and bring lots of cash as lots of places won't take cards, even hotels. And whatever you do don't arrived without any Yen in your pocket.
Anyways, its very worth it just do your homework.Last edited by MikeMurphy; Jul 10th, 2012 at 03:40 AM.

Those prices are insane.
I can't even fly from Vancouver to Edmonton for <$400 all-in these days.
Tempting...
