You can convert the .dat file to MPEG-1 by using VCDGear. Then edit it with Movica or TMPGEnc.

Video edit help please
Folks i just got my wedding VCD video from my wife's family in South Korea today.
It is about 30 minutes long and I would like to cut it down to 15 minutes to and to show it at a dinner/reception party that I will host next month
The file is a .DAT file, i surmise it is MPEG-1. I can view both the VCD in my DVD player and on the computer using Windows Media Player.
What i want to do is to cut out some boring scenes and perhaps spruce up some other scenes with some nice music background. Once I finish with the editing, I will burn the shortened movie onto a CD/DVD and play it on a laptop and project on to a screen at the dinner party.
Can you please recommend programs that will do these jobs. This is my first time doing this so please feel free to give your advice.
Thank you very much._______________
If you are looking to purchase a Monarch home in Ottawa, I can help walk you through the process. We just bought one and can offer advice on upgrades, among other things. Please PM for details
