I JUST SAW IT! It was a really good plot. a lot of interesting twists in it. I give it Blazin_Sunfire's 3 burnouts out of 5!

the movie was too hyped because of shyamalan's previous films, of which the sixth sense is the only good one.
anyway, the internet rumours ruined the movie for me months ago. the ending just seems too convenient and not carefully planned, that's all.
but for those who are curious but don't want to spend your money/time on the film, check out the spoiler here: http://www.themoviespoiler.com/Spoilers/xlvillage.html

Aug 1st, 2004 10:02 AM #5Sixth sense was his weakest work, IMHO. Even signs was better (w/o the cheezy alien at the end, tho). I though the Village was definitely his strongest work, not having followed any rumours whatsoever

This is Shamaylan's weakest entry. All the surprises/twists were not very interesting. He really just needs to make a normal movie without the twist ending. He is becoming a one trick director. I thought that the woman who played Ivy was excellent, while I find Joaquin Phoenix very uninteresting as an actor. The worst part of the movie was "Noah" and what happened with him. Also right at the beginning of the movie, the audience is misled which was totally unnecessary for the story to be told.
I would give the movie 5/10.

Saw it on Friday, wasn't impressed. The audience was laughing at a lot of what I assume were meant to be "serious" parts. Read the spoilers, don't wasted your $$.

Aug 1st, 2004 01:28 PM #10Are you kidding me? 'Signs' had plot holes large enough to drive a truck through. 'Sixth Sense' was by far his best work.

Just saw it, it was ok... alot of the final ideas went through my head as possible plot twists, so it wasn't a total surprise. Noah's actions were a surprise though, didn't see what he did coming.

Hello all.
I just saw The Villiage tonight adn all I can say is that it is not an amazing movie and not a bad movie. It was 100% better then Signs in my opinion. The movie is the type you watch once and thats it. I probably would have enjoyed it more if the two senior citzens behind me did not comment about the movie all the time, and to top it off answer the cell-phone near the end of the movie. Instead of geting up and answering the damm thing they simply sat in the chair and talked. The entire 3 rows who could hear her talk were ready to lynch her...

Aug 1st, 2004 11:56 PM #15btw, the actress is bryce dallas howard, daughter of actor/director ron howard. this film is her breakthrough role and she's the only good thing about the movie from what i've read of several reviews.
