Dang, just ordered two PM SIM cards lol. I suppose there are still some differences between the two (ie. 90 day billing versus 30 day which means it's really 4 GB per month as opposed to 12 GB over 3 months, addon differences, and perhaps some others. I will wait for the experts to chime in on here..

Edit: ^ as previous poster mentioned AB/BC only, guess I am still going for PM.

Are there additional data buckets available if going over 4gb?

They don't want any new customers but they don't want to lose existing customers either...interesting.

Little too late... Most people would've switched to PM already. I would still prefer PM since it's 12GB of data over 3 months instead of 4GB each month

I'm nearly sure it's Bell.

Virgin Mobile Canada is owned by Bell Canada.

Oh look, now all these companies offering 50% off what average Canadians pay. What happened? They suddenly now have the infrastructure to handle crazy geebees data load?

$*&# them. Public wins my wallet for at least being the first to break the neckchoking prices.

I switched to PM too but let's just remember it's still Telus, part of the same big 3. They're only pushing this deal to increase customers and marketshare.

I quit Virgin for PM. For my local area, I've found PM (Telus) to give me better coverage.

Not offered in Canada's biggest market.

I'd happily switch to this.

Virgin Mobile > Public Mobile, at least you get roaming options outside of Canada/USA (such as incoming text), and you can walk into a store and pick up a SIM card (also $5). But..... I think overage rate is probably going to be $5 per 100MB. And there's real-time customer service (however crappy).

PM is still owned by one of the big 3s.
If they can increase prices on legacy plans, they can do the same to these $40 plan too in the future or charge the same and give less data.
This was just a move to stop the 4th player from emerging too big, once that is gone they can charge more.
