If you have LTE iPad 3 or phone, you can turn on the tethering or personal hotspot and download/upload extreme fast a lots of data. All the carriers having the abuse policy but they probably don't apply it because if they apply it and terminate your service, you can always switch to their competition carrier.

Depends on your usage, if you use less than $250MB / month then you only have to pay $15/month with Virgin Mobile/Bell Flex tablet plan.

If you use between 250MB - 500MB then Telus is suitable for you because you only have to pay $20/month.

If you use more than 500MB then you have to pay $35 for up to 5GB. This is the same for Virgin Mobile, Bell or Telus.

After 5GB, Telus overage charge is 2¢/MB compare to 1.5¢/MB for Virgin Mobile.

If you plan to use this flex data plan on your phone then Virgin Mobile/Bell is safer because it always have the correct no pay per use charge APN pda.bell.ca when you put the SIM card on the phone.

Telus is more dangerous. It might have the incorrect pay per use charge APN sp.telus.com when you put the SIM card on the phone. A lot of users don't know this and might receive a huge bill for pay per use data. Telus might waive this charge once time if you call to dispute.

For Telus, you have to change to the correct no charge APN isp.telus.com

Telus $5 Flex data plan thread.

normal to micro or micro to normal is not an issue if you buy the elcheapo cutter. They usually come with some adaptor to house micro.

Terrible, their normal flex data is 0-25mb for 5$ 25mb to 100mb for 10$

Pretty much they going to give you this small bonus now, and screw you later.

Yes, because this is month to month plan. You might have to give them 30 days notice for cancellation.

I will plan to activate another one near Dec 2nd, 2012 to get another 2 months unlimited data and cancel the old one.

Regarding the Virgin/Bell APN's, there's pda.bell.ca as well as pda2.bell.ca. Anyone know if there's overage charges on the pda2 APN?

No charge because both APNs pda and pda2 are provisioned for tablet data plan
The Tablet Flex $5 Plan (no contract) is reserved for customer owned tablets...but nothing really stops a client from using other devices; nor does it really matter. This plan is provisioned for use with pda.bell.ca and pda2.bell.ca APN (Smartphone / Tablet APN). They recommend monitoring your data use on this plan if you plan on using it on a non-tablet...just in case.

Not so easy, i have a promotional voice plan with flex data from last Christmas, if i switch and then cancel, dont think they will give me back my old plan.

So beware of the risks.

Bell have the same unlimited for 2 months but no referral program like Virgin Mobile

I see no activation fee (offer ends October 31st, 2012 ???) + free SIM for iPad Flex plan, but not for tablet but I think they will give it free for tablet plan.

2 months unlimited data offers ends December 2nd 2012.
Bonus: Activate your iPad with Bell by October 31st, 2012 and we'll waive your activation fee (1), plus give you the micro SIM card (2) free, a total $40 value. As an extra bonus, there are no data overage charges within Canada for your first 2 months (3).

Offer ends October 31st, 2012. Available with compatible devices within network coverage areas available from Bell Mobility where technology permits. Roaming charges (including foreign taxes) may apply outside your local area. One-time device activation ($35) applies. Paper bill charge ($2/mo) applies unless you register for e-bill and cancel your paper bill. Upon early termination, price adjustments apply; see your Service Agreement for details. Subject to change without notice. Taxes extra. Other conditions apply.

(1) With new activation on a post-paid plan. Credit applied on the account before taxes; allow 6 to 8 weeks.

(2) With new activation on a post-paid plan. Apple and iPad are trademarks of Apple Inc.

(3) Offers ends December 2nd 2012. New activations only. For months 1 and 2 of your term, you will not be charged for any data usage apart from the rate plan’s recurring monthly fee. Thereafter, your monthly recurring charge for your plan will adjust depending on your usage for that month. Subject to acceptable use restrictions in Terms of Service, including but not limited to consuming excessive network capacity or causing our network to be adversely affected. See www.bell.ca/acceptableuse for details.
