Virgin Mobile in Ottawa
Anyone using their service in Ottawa/Kanata area? I am looking into switching to them from Telus. 90% of the time I am in urban area, but how is it outside of the city?
Thanks

Virgin Mobile uses Bell's 1900mhz CDMA network.
FWIW, my bro uses Virgin mobile though he always stays in the city and no problems.

Virgin works in Kanata and west to both Perth and Renfrew but not outside those towns in the cottage areas.

I'm usually in the Carleton Place, Smith Falls, Almonte area when I go golfing.
Telus is nickel and diming everything now, I'm feedup nothing has improved much yet I pay a lot more then when I first signed up with them. I think it's time for a change.

Indeed. Virgin is quite good: No SAF, Caller ID and Voicemail. The CID and VM is essential for me - and it's usually $10 or so with the big three carriers.
I signed up for the $20 for 200 minutes and am very pleased with it. Got it when the phones were free as well, so that's a major plus
I've been through a lot of carriers and Virgin has been by far the best Canadian one for my voice usage.

I can confirm Virgin works at the Carleton Place hosptial area, Smith Falls by Herseys, and Almonte city hall area. Virgin does not work at Timberland in Lanark. I'll guessing that if you call the golf club they may know.

Turns out my mother wants to give them a try, so I guess I will get some first hand experience before making the switch myself.
