Lowest price by far in Canada. Previous was just under $3800.

It’s just up on Visions at the moment but I assume this will be everywhere. Get it at the end of next week at Costco and you should be with in 90 days of Black Friday for if it drops more. I expect it will be under $3k.

I have the C8 but will be returning it for a C9. As a gamer I need the HDMI 2.1

Wow, these prices are plummeting fast.

They just dropped by several hundred a couple months ago and then they dropped again.

I believe the 55C9 was at $3400 at launch. That $1000 off in just a few months.

I’m starting to wonder what the price will be on Black Friday. I just paid $1629 for a 55C8 last week. That seemed like a fantastic deal, but now I’m starting to wonder if I should have waited for the 55C9.

I just checked their website and Gibby’s is even cheaper.

They have the 55 and 65 C9 for $2098 and $2948.

That’s crazy. Could those be typos? Because they’re cheaper than the 55 and 65 B9.

I believe the C8 followed this same trend, and I think people were getting them for under $2800 around BF and $1800 for the 55"

Says there's a 2yr warranty if you sign up for Visions Rewards, which is free. Seems like a no-brainer. Also free shipping

55" C8 is $1800 (open box), 55" C9 is $2300 (2yr warranty, free shipping). 65" C8 is $2800 (open box) or $3000, 65" C9 is $3300. All 65" with 2yr warranty and free shipping.

Nearest Visions is Whitby. How do they handle warranty service (including damaged when you open the box) when you can't bring it in? Debating whether to get one of these (65C9 is ~U$2500+HST from Visions) or wait for BF and get in US. Lowest I've seen so far on US sites have been 65C8 for U$1525 and 65C9 for U$2100 (plus HST on the amount over C$800 and possibly 7% sales tax on the whole thing -- potentially U$150 in sales tax on 65C9 and saving C$104 in HST). Could be even lower by BF, but then no warranty coverage at all after I bring it back.

Decisions, decisions. :) Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

Wow! Says sale ends today. I sent an email to my local Visions. I might just pack up and head in when it opens. I paid $2450 for the C8, but an extra $500 is a no brainer.

Yes Gibbys is $2948 plus $80 shipping = $3028. Still cheaper than Visions. I didn't see a price for a 2nd year of warranty. Again I wonder how they handle warranty for out-of-town (and in Gibby's case if it's worth saving $240 to ship to a relative in Montreal :).

Presumably if Canadian prices have finally gone down closer to US, we'll see US prices drop too?

Is it a no-brainer, though?

From everything I’m reading, the picture quality between the C8 and C9 is nearly identical. The remote is almost identical and the software has minor changes. The panel is the same, the design is the same, and the internal speakers sound the same.

The only real difference is HDMI 2.1, or more specifically, VRR. And that only matters if you’re a big gamer. And even then, you still have to wait for next gen consoles, as the current consoles don’t support HDMI 2.1.

On top of that, the C9 also supports the new Apple TV app, AirPlay 2, and eARC, but none of that matters if you use an external box - especially an Apple TV box.

I was really considering returning my C8 for a C9 but I just can’t justify it. If it was $100 or maybe $200, I’d do it. But for $500, I just don’t see the value.

Yes, I am a big gamer and next year when the next gen consoles come out I will regret the hell out of not doing it. Plus my C8 has pretty poor white uniformity and I was considering an exchange anyway.

I’ve been tracking Gibby’s sale prices. Be aware that the end dates don’t mean too much. In fact, I’ve seen prices change late at night or early in the morning so that the price you see right now might be different come morning. You almost have to take advantage of their sale prices right away, especially the prices that look too good to be true. Don’t count on those ones lasting through til morning.

Gibby's is also known for "sale ends today" on the website. I'd expect them to have a great price in store if you were nearby.

eARC matters if you want the set to pass through lossless HD audio (DTS:X or Dolby Atmos) and have a system capable of playing it back.

I've read several places that the eARC feature isn't necessarily playing nice with equipment and that LG still hasn't offered a resolution. I think that's the one thing that has me holding out.

Prices would likely be lower if you negotiate in-store.

As for eARC not cooperating, are the reports with HDMI 2.1 receivers? Cuz HDMI 2.1 receivers are almost non-existent. If not a HDMI 2.1, the receiver may be to be blame too.

Anyhow, I’m not surprised the first implementation of eARC is having some issues.
