[Vistek] Nikon Sale: D7500 $999.99 + other deals (multiple retailers)

Nikon Canada appears to have authorized Canadian stores to mark down the D7500 camera to $999.99 from the regular $1699.99. I do not believe this camera has ever been discounted $700 until now. I see the $999.99 sale price at Vistek, The Camera Store, London Drugs, McBain, and Nikon Canada. The D500 is also $700 off (from $2699.99). Other Nikon cameras seem have to smaller discounts if any.

I don't know when the sale ends so I just put a date far in the future above. I will guess the sale lasts 2 weeks to 1 month.

Seems APS-C dSLRs are not selling. Otherwise they wouldn't be discounted this much. I wonder if Canon will come out with discounts as well...especially since the bad news they came out with.

I've seen this happen before with the D600 way back when. Nikon Canada seems to do this type of thing on select models probably as an alternative promotion to Nikon USA's rebates.

As for saying that APS-C (DX in Nikon speak) dSLRs not selling based on one promotion, that's a bit of a stretch to apply a higher end sale to the entire category. Since both of these cameras are on the high end of DX range, I suspect that Nikon Canada might be trying to pull the mid-end DX user upmarket - ie those using a D5000-series or even the low-end D3000-series.

guess their sales are going down since more people prefer to buy smartphones to shoot photos, except pros.

Good deal for those looking for a Nikon APS-C DSLR. Guess the competitors (from both camera and phone mfgs) are more competitive than before.

Was looking at the Z6 myself, but XQD memory cards seem really pricey.

Feel like not that long ago when Canon and Nikon are the only 2 major ILC players. (Minolta (now Sony), Olympus, and Pentax each had a relatively small ILC market share even when they were brilliant innovators.) Now there are also Fuji, Panasonic, and many phone cameras seem to have superior computational photography -- and convenience that way surpasses that of compact cameras from yesteryear. Always an interesting time it seems.

Great body, great price. But never going back to mirror shooting again. Still a great body though.

Partly agreed. This DSRL only make sense for special needs as low light and fast AF

That used to be true. Sony a6400 and a6500 trumps this puppy in every way possible. Except all Nikon users will need to invest in new glass if moving over to Sony.

I have a d3400 right now but tbh I’m not a fan of how photos turn out on it comparing to my friend’s Canon camera.

If I was to upgrade, what’s the best thing I can get less than $1000 ? This Nikon here?

How are you comparing? Are you shooting In raw or just jpegs? Lense and your techniques are bigger factors in picture quality than the camera body itself.

The d3400 is excellent in terms IQ. What you dont like about it? The JPEG rendering is different from Canon. Maybe you like the Canon's rendering better (I like Nikon better)
Changing to the d7500 will not make a difference for you, I think

Go for a photoshoot with him but use his camera and he uses yours. But both keep shooting with same lenses. Than compare. He might have better results if he shoots with better lenses and you with kit for ex.

Anyone agree with me that the D7200 is a better camera than the D7500? Astonished Face
(And "yes", better is a very subjective term)

Depends. Main selling features for the d7200 over the d7500 are the second SD slot and compatibility with battery grips.
