Hi Alex - curious how many lease payments a dealer is typically willing to eat to get someone into a new car? I think VW offers to take $800 or so? We have about 10 mths left on our lease, looking for a bigger Tiguan. Are they more willing to eat payments if you finance a new car instead of lease?

Also...fees. I don't even know what the winter protection is?

Tiguan Trendline 2.0T 8sp at w/Tip 4MOTION $31,175.00, WTR - Convenience
Package $1,650.00, OMVIC Fee $10.00, Security Etching & Road Hazard $355.00, Wheel
Locking $78.00, Winter Protection Package $499.00, Admin Fee $499.00, Air
Conditioning Tax $100.00, Ontario Tire Stewardship $16.50, Freight & PDI - Trucks/Vans
$1,845.00

Wow!! Those fees! Are you in AB? Have them remove the etching, winter protection and reduce the admn fee to half.

Your dealer will not "eat" any payments, it doesn't work like that. Unless you're paying full MSRP and your dealer will allocate their profit margin to cover some payments up to the amount equivalent to a typical discount. This is how it's done; they will appraise your car and compare that to what your current most up to date buyout is. In most cases the buyout is higher than wholesale value. Most likely there will be some negativity.

Thanks Alex! Ontario, not Alberta... sigh. I mentioned the fees and got "this is just a preliminary offer, we can definitely work on the costs". So frustrating to have to ask for a lower price, just offer it up front!

Thanks for advice on lease payments too. Good to know.

Looking at a Tiguan highline with driver assistance. Current quote is for 44,400 taxes in. Curious what others have been able to get.

Sounds a bit too good to be true, but go for it if you can get that price.

My thoughts as well. They want a downpayment before they will send me a quote sheet, so that sounds sketchy.

Looking at the 2018 Tiguan Trenline 4Motion with Convenience Package and 3rd Row Option, are there any good lease deals for one of these vehicles, I assume they rarely have the 3rd row as an demo at the Dealerships.

Are the lease rates for the Golf R on the vw.ca website the best it's going to get or do different dealerships possibly offer lower rates?

All dealers offer the same rate. They're offered by VCI.

Hi, New to the thread here. Looking for Tiguan Comfortline in Alberta. What kind of price should I expect given we have Volksfest going on right now? Thanks in advance.

Hi @afretes - any thoughts on a 2018 Tiguan Comfortline for $38,815.50 (sorry, wrong number) all in? Financed. Can I do any better?

Thx!

Hello, long time lurker on these forums, but this thread made me create an account and join in.

All manufacturers should have a thread like this, so much information and good opinions shared here.

I'm in the market for a 5 door hatchback, manual transmission, with heated seats (yes, those are really the only requirements). I've tried to do as much research as possible on the 2018 Golf vs the 2019, the main differences I can see between the 2 are the obvious engine and manual transmission changes.

I've had the opportunity to drive cars equipped with 1.4t and 1.8t VW engines in other countries (I'm sure there will be slight differences between a Seat 1.4t and a VW 1.4t but I imagine they drive similarly), and driving the 2 engines seem very similar to each other due to the torque ratings.

I'm wondering if anyone can confirm this for me? Does the 1.8 L engine in the 2018 Golf have a timing chain, while the 1.4 L in the 2019 use a timing belt instead?

Finally, does anyone know if there is much inventory left in Ontario of the 2018 Trendline 5 door hatchback with manual transmission?

Thank you very much.
