The Super Saver
Thanks for the kind words.
There are lots of savings to be had at RFDs but as you pointed out, buying a car in the US certainly qualifies for the super saver club.
Everyone is saving a minimum of a few THOUSANDS of dollars.
Some have emailed me and said they have saved over $30,000!
That's why the thread is taking off. In less than a day, the thread vote went from third to first place. That says something.
The savings you get by buying down south are tremendous. The press is even covering the story now.
In less than a year, the thread has become one of the most popular on RFD.
I get literally dozens of emails a day from readers thanking me for the insight.
Savings are too huge not to be noticed.
Thanks for your votes. I appreciate it.Last edited by Monsieurmaggot; Jul 19th, 2007 at 04:36 PM.

Help keep the Canadian economy strong. Don't buy overpriced new cars in Canada. Car stealerships in Canada don't value your business & conspire to keep prices artificially high. Before you buy a new car in Canada, do yourself a favour, compare US pricing first! Some RFDers saved TENS of THOUSANDS shopping for vehicles down south. Find out how I saved over $18,000 by importing my vehicle from the US at my personal website: www.monsieurmaggot.com and be sure to read my other rants there too!

Bravo Monsieur!!
The Honda Accord EX is 20% cheaper in the US than here with currency exchange etc. etc. and you have illustrated how and why we should buy south of the border.
Maybe one day we will have REAL free trade . . . maybe not!
I have a family member that works for Honda and I still can't get close to the deals that you can get south of the border on Hondas and Acuras, it is disgusting!
I am seriously going to consider getting my next car from the US, something I never would have thought of previously!

I saved a HUGE amount on the Memberworks stuff after I got cut off my initial Mastercard membership (before the thread ever began). I needed a new way to get in and that thread allowed me back in until my last cut off earlier this year

Thanks felix._______________
From a "Family" reviewer: "We Cheer teaches coordination, enticement to lust, women being used as sex objects, and team work."
From Worthy Playing: "We Cheer is, then, for all intents and purposes, the F-Zero GX of music games. It asks for so much, yet forgives so little. It is actually so casual that it's hardcore."

vote for Monsierumaggot and his thread on importing US cars to Canada
Thanks to Monsieurmaggot, I can purchase the ultra safe Subaru for my wife to drive to work. If we had to pay Canadian prices - probably could not afford the car - would be $15,000 more money after fees, taxes, etc!
One such deal probably saves more money than all other threads combined!

Mods: Can we verify the legitimacy of the 'US Car' votes? (the newbie posts above were a dead giveaway). Something seems fishy for a thread with only 3,085 replies, 395,221 views, and few people getting the deal. Not to mention hurting the Canadian economy rather helping it like all the other deals.

I think you have a valid point. I think there are far too many votes for the Memberworks thread as well and it should also be looked into.
However, like others on this site, I would disagree with your statement about my thread hurting the Canadian economy.
There are plenty of posters on my thread who also disagree.
The fact that my thread`s topic has generated media interest is most likely a good indicator.
Everywhere you turn (press, radio or TV) there are reports of the TENS of THOUSANDS of dollars people are saving by buying down south.
I wouldn`t be surprised that the thread votes for the US car purchases will increase the gap.
Look forward to the results of the investigation.
Perhaps the moderator can disclose who`s actually voting...._______________

Relax everybody. This is just for fun.

The memberworks thread benefited a magnitude more RFDer than a car purchase thread. Granted a car purchase may have saved those few who went through the effort lots of money.
Totally disagree with you given the prize only goes to the top vote getter. You knew what happens once a prize is involved.

+1 voted! I saved thousands of dollars with Felix's gift card thread.
I've been following the US Car thread as I'm looking to buy a used car across the border, but not within the year or two. People don't buy new cars often so it's more of a one time deal. Also, since buying experiences for different RFDers do not necessarily coincide with the make and model that I want, most of my inquiries have just taken a back seat unlike on the gift card thread where people were so helpful._______________
