Wallet for Father-in-Law

Before I spend half a day walking around downtown to find a good wallet for my father in law, does anyone have any recommendations as to what stores I should start with?

Budget > $200.00

Father in law is Korean National and in his 70s
Apparently These men like to show off to their friends "look what my son in law bought me"

recognizable name brand preferred

A little shift in the paradigm.

How about a minimalist, anti-"keep up with the joneses" look wallet that will wear well and last him a lifetime.

Saddleback! 100 year warranty. Top quality leather and stitching, and won’t break the bank.

The Popov ones look nice as well, but I haven’t seen them in person.

But if wanting the name brand, Mont Blanc

I'm on my second Bellroy wallet (for a different style, not because the first one wore out).

I have a Card Pocket for my occasional/frequent cards: https://bellroy.com/products/card-pocke ... blue_steel

And a Card Slip for my core cards (building pass, driver's licence, 1 or 2 CC): https://bellroy.com/products/card-slip- ... her/forest

They have plenty of other styles if these aren't in line with his tastes.

+1 Bellroy or Saddleback

Also kudos to Thirteen50 Leather as a budget option.

The thing with showing off with Koreans is it's not about the quality or warranty... it's all about the name and authenticity. So pick a luxury brand name (Prada, LV, Gucci, etc) and make sure you get all the packaging that comes with it. Although those might break the bank as they tend to be in the $400-$500 minimum range.

200 bucks isn't going to get you a "wow" factor wallet. Double your budget and you're getting closer. I would recommend thinking of something else to give him.

Just get him a duck tape wallet. His friends will really enjoy that.
