One set only: 185/65R14 "Weathermate" Winter Tires, 4 @ $10 at Aurora WM

Price:
10.00
Retailer:
Walmart - Aurora location
This afternoon, saw four, possibly five, winter tires at Aurora Walmart that scanned for $10.00 each. Checked all four individually with the guy's handheld scanner.

They are lowly regarded "Weathermate" 185/65R14, but will probably out-do all-seasons for the coming winter if you are in dire need of real cheap new winter tires in that particular size. The manufacture WWYY date codes were from 2013 and 2014, but we are talking $40 for a set of four (plus $3.30/tire Ontario Tire Stewardship Fee and then 13% HST on top of it all).

The newer ones are branded "Weathermaxx" and they are probably just aching to get rid of these four older "Weathermate" ones. They are stacked in different rows, a pair together in two spots.

As OP said, if they only cost $40, someone might buy and use winter tires instead of their all-seasons.
Are you sure you wish to carry out this operation? You betcha.

Honestly when you think about saving money on tires think about fireball hwy400., Used tires & clearance tires should be illegal to resell. Esp ones that are 4 or 5 years old from mfg.

I honestly cant think of a use case for this tire, you get killed driving a car and your tire blows out and u smash into a truck or something.

A true RFDer will downsize their caliper and rotor just to fit these 14's and run them.

That size should be standard for early 2000s Corolla, official car for the most frugal RFDers.

Hot deal indeed for those guys!

I was in my Costco a couple days ago and saw some tires set to be disposed of and marked "stale dated." No retailer should be selling these. Tires, even if never used, have a life span of 5-7 years. And who knows if they have been properly stored? No thanks.

Have you guys ever used these tires?

All this bias and hate on these tires. I'm a name brand, review-only guy but the deal was too good to pass up a few years back with the Wal-Mart clearout, I think on Weathermate (I gotta check my tires).
You know what? They're actually good. Couple of seasons in now, never stuck, driving like I always do.

Edit: I see the general complaint is about the AGE of the tires, rather than the brand. Okay, fair enough.

For a grocery getter, these would be perfectly fine. But yeah, don't commute on the 400 everyday on tires that old.
