[Walmart] BlackWeb 16GB USB3 Flash Drive - $4.88 (In-Store Ontario/Quebec)

Update: August 16th 2017

Deal appears AGAIN in this weeks flyer Aug 17, 2017 - Wed, Aug 23, 2017.

Update: August 9th 2017

Deal appears to be in this weeks flyer again Aug 10, 2017 - Wed, Aug 16, 2017 for Ontario at least.

Update: August 3rd 2017

Deal was in last week's flyer (July 27th to August 2nd) so deal might be expired now? Unless they never changed the price.

flyer12 also found it online for the same price: https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/blackweb-b ... 0197212832

------------------------------------------------

Walmart flyer for Ontario & Quebec has BlackWeb USB3 16GB drives for $4.88.

I picked up a couple. The construction is pretty cheap, and the pullout tab isn't super stable, seems to be pushed up, unless you hold it when plugging in. But at least the USB connector is metal unlike some really cheap ones which use plastic. Has a very faint red LED indicator.

I moved a bunch of files onto it, and saw 20-24 MB/s write speed, I would say 21 MB/s seemed rather stable. But this speed will depend heavily on many factors. Available capacity is 14.6GB, would probably take 11-12 minutes to fill up at such speeds.

CrystalDiskMark benchmark:

Might be worth it to pickup for $5, if you need to move some files around or extra non-critical backup. Don't expect anything too good at this price, temp storage at best.

If anyone has experience with these USB drives let us know any more details.

The cheapest construction quality I have seen is on Gigastone thumbdrives from the Source. The USB plug is plastic (not metal) and there is no LED.

Somewhere in Ontario
Serial number would indicate 128Gb.

I will see which one it is when I receive it. If it's the 32gb instead of the 128gb one, I'll return it.

The best software I use to test the performance as well as reliability is this one: https://www.heise.de/download/product/h2testw-50539

I find that if the tests find no issues, you will have no problems with the drive for some time.

Hmm, per GB that's not as good as 2 x 16GB ($4.88 X 2 = $9.76

I've only bought regular USB 2/3 sticks until now, but I saw tiny Blackweb flash drives with 32GB and more, that had USB C plugs on one end, and USB 2/3 on the other.

My local Walmart had an empty display rod with a tag above it that read "$4.88 BW32GBUSB3" Sold out, I thought! Then 5 feet to the left was another display with approx. 15 packs of BlackWeb 32GB drives, but with a different UPC code. The one I got is 04272 75124 6

I wonder if the other was different or better somehow.

Me too. The Walmart website messed it up. They also list the 32Gb Blackweb one at $54.88 but the specs are clearly for the 128gb so they got the models number reversed.
https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/blackweb-b ... 0196983333

Let's hope the order people go by the model number and send out the 128gb instead of the 32gb at $18.88!

The point I was trying to make was the 128gb on sale for 18,88 really is the 32gb.

Face With Tears Of JoyThanks OP grabbed one on the weekend and another today. Still stock floating around in some stores.
For those that couldn't find one, can't you still get a rain check at Walmart for this kind of stuff, unless it says limited quantity in the ad?

I would give my life to protect your right to say something really funking stupid.

Respect your OP's. They don't get paid to do this, and don't have to come here to post their deals for you. They can all just hoard their deals in silence, if you prefer?

If they are advertising BW-Z128GCNBL-R at $18, that's what they have to ship, don't they?

I ordered this the other day. I'm going to the post office now to pick it up. I will give an update once I get the package as to if it is the 128gb or the 32gb one.
