1. Try to get jackstands with the little load distributing feet so it doesn't dig into your asphalt drive way.
2. If you remove the wheel place it under the car for added protection.

is it safe to put your car on jack stands for a week or will that damage your car?

Similar question. I already have 2 jack stands. Would it be alright to get two more and put the whole car up to rotate the tires? I've been pondering how to do it safely with only two jack stands. $30 to avoid putting the spare on, seems like a good idea.Longobongo wrote: ↑ is it safe to put your car on jack stands for a week or will that damage your car?

They always come in a set, so 2 jack stands.
I personally wouldn't recommend these after hearing all the horror accidents, get a set with safety pins.
It doesn't take much for these stands to fail,

It doesn't? His jack stand only failed when he bashed it several times with increasing *upward* force in the wrong spot with a mallet or used a long tool for leverage. If the stand were actually on the ground, ground clearance would have made it even more difficult for him to swing with much force, or fit a long bar where he did (depending on which way you arranged the stand).
He couldn't do it just by hand.
Skip to 9:30 in and watch for a minute.
I'd be more worried about a bad weld.
