Brita is horrible nowadays. Carbon particles reflux back into the chamber so it looks like a mess.

You will sometimes see some tiny carbon bits, but it's mentioned in the instructions to just rinse them out, they are not harmful.

Last year around this time, it was on sale at $6.49+tax for a 2-pack. So if you use that as a yardstick, a fair price would be about ?$3.5 each this year
