When I was at Shoppers Drug Mart last week, they had Dairyland. It was only $4.75 (??) for 4L.
I've been buying milk at Shoppers for years, and it's always been Dairyland brand in the plastic jugs. Plus I get a weekly milk offer on my PC Optimum account that gives me back $1.20 in points for buying 4 L.

Are those other brands of milk bottles made from plastic somehow different vs current plastic milk bottles?

I am in BC and plastic bottles are common here, 4 liters for example only comes in plastic bottle, 1 and 2 liter are the only sizes in the cardboard type containers, and 2 liter is also available in a plastic bottle.

I don't see the fuss over those brands also using plastic bottles.
Ya, I guess the fuss is about what one (us Easterners) is used too

Milk Bags make for a lot less plastic ending up in the landfill.. cause people are lazy
Even when we had Plastic Milk Bottle Deposits here (ala Macs Milk)
People just threw them in the garbage rather than take them back or recycle them into the Blue Bins

Definitely part of the reason that Milk Bags became so successful here
Not to mention they are AWESOME for freezing
Which makes buying milk more affordable
Because 4 Litres in 3 Plastic Bags... costs exactly the same as 2 Litres in Waxed Cardboard

Lucerne is the best milk, been buying it at safeway for years and years in alberta. I rarely buy my milk at Walmart, it more expensive there, I usually get it at safeway, or the shoppers x20 points deal, but the shoppers milk doesn't last as long because they use garbage milk coolers to store it.

Do Ontarians genuinely like bagged milk? I always thought it only persisted because of Ontario's plastic bag lobby.

FWIW, when bagged milk disappeared in BC in the early 90s my parents said good riddance.

I've also noticed that Walmart has stopped stocking Country Harvest toast bread. Now it's just the awful Dempsters and store-brand ones. I'll stick with Fortinos.
Yeah they also stopped carrying Wonder bread. A shame.

We have always found lucerne to be just a cheap crap brand at safeway. Very watery with not much flavour. We stick
to Island Farms when possible from costco.

Ya... I think most Easterners do.
Price, Convenience to freeze, and low waste definitely makes it a winner here
I would say that it has the largest market share
Just based on what one sees in other peoples carts

Just like you all find bags weird
A lot of us think hauling around big bulky gallon jugs is ridiculous
And a jug is open ... so on it’s way to going bad
Milk keeps longer in the bags cause of very little air
And unlike the waxed containers... no airflow thru
So milk stays fresher... no picked up fridge taste
And they freeze so well and take up so little space

Both accurate as Lucerne in Alberta tastes fine to me but not Lucerne in BC. Been this way for years and years...

Unless you use up the whole bag at once, the milk turns bad very quick; milk jug for me Face With Stuck-out Tongue And Tightly-closed Eyes
