I don't shop at Costco, so not sure. I heard Costco is cheapest for 20LB refills.

Walmart has been usually the cheapest for 1LB compared to CT or superstore.

...In before the debate on refilling

(if you these often a 5 lbs tank costs <$3 to fill at Costco.)

Nice, I use these on my propane lamp for camping, always buying last minute at $5-6+. Will pickup a few this time.

I know it's not the same, but for a long term investment, I picked up a little 5lb refillable propane tank along with an adapter hose at Canadian Tire a couple of years ago and I've never looked back. I just filled it last weekend at Costco, and it was around $3 for a fill. It might not have been completely empty though, but regardless, it's a fraction of the cost of the single use tanks.

I hear ya. It depends on what you use it for. I have a 20 LB tank that I use for cooking and other stuff. And I use these 1LB ones for my buddy heater so I don't have huge bulky stuff inside my tent.

I checked Canadian tire
- $18.99 for a 3 pack http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/colem ... p.html#srp
-$6.79 for a single http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/colem ... p.html#spc
$3.68 gets my vote as a hot deal - will stock up for the summer.

I'm not saying it is safe or legal in some parts - but there are adapters that will let you refill these from the big tanks.

I keep a couple disposable tanks on hand when portability matters the utmost, but yeah, a 5 lb. refillable tank with an adapter (assuming they make one for your appliance) is the way to go if you want to save money over the long term. The problem is, the 5 lb. tanks are harder to find and usually more costlier than the 20 lb. tanks.

I got the 4 pack at Costco a couple years ago for $12. Not sure what the current price is.
