no hdmi either i thought it was an a8 with tegra from an early review. but its an omap 1ghz, no ips either but better battery looks to be about a 33-3400mh vs 2400. But no hdmi no a8 cortex not interested and for the extra money you'd expect ips. otherswise if %50 more gets u an ideapad then argueably %50 more than an ideapad gets you a playbook(with hdmi too) with double the power better screen etc since its always gonna be just a dedicated mid.

I just picked one up. Here are my initial thoughts.
Pros:
Feels sturdy
Feels fast
Cons:
No Android market
No bluetooth
the screen has a "tacky' feel. My finger "sticks" to it, if that makes sense
False presses occur because of the tack screen
The screen isn't very clear. Especially with a white background. Almost looks like a screen from a cheap digital photo frame (I did remove the plastic that protects the screen when packaged)
No HDMI port, I assume HDMI out works via the USB port?
It'll probably be going back to the store, sadly.

Futureshop had the Lenovo brand new for $149
Trust me this hipstreet is just a waste of money. It probably doesn't even have Bluetooth or a GPS and probably doesn't even have Play store or support for Netflix.
If Android device doesn't have market support it's pretty much useless. App updates happen like everyday if you have a lot of apps, imagine having to side load apps every day!

How does this one compare to the nova2 or vecktor that were on sale at the brick for the same price

It's most likely a micro HDMI connection which looks similar to a micro USB port.

Once it gets rooted it will be possible to edit the build.prop to fool the Play store into thinking it's a different Android tablet.

Nope, no separate HDMI port. Just Micro USB, earphone jack and microSD slot.

Installing the foll apk's using the steps detailed?

The Supernova is not sold with Android, but installing these apk's will get it working, as it did on my crappy SN which I returned LOL.

the idea pad seems like a good deal too even if it is 50% more $.
still gonna try the hipstreet. all i need is a decent video player for the car.
EDIT: lol @ HIPSTER cant be trusted
BTW: if you are going to suggest a better unit, try to keep the $ similar. for $100, how much better can you get?

Funny, I picked one up too. Exact same thoughts as you, right down to the "probably will return".

Tried. It runs, but once you try and download something you get "Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped.". Been working on it a while now working on a work-around. Not getting very far, though.
