[Walmart] Honeywell Smart Thermostat (RTH9580WF) $120 (reg. $239)

Noticed this Thermostat is on clearance at Walmart.ca for $120. Has ok reviews, if you're looking for something different than the Nest, Ecobee, or Lyric. Not sure if home Depot will price match (+10% off) on "clearance", but worth a try.

Got this 2 months ago from Amazon at the same price. Pretty solid unit, love the ability to turn it on/off my furnace via wifi. It also tells me the outdoor temperature and weather.

Note that I used a common wire in the installation. Not sure if you can bypass it.

I was just about the pull the trigger on this, but found out the outdoor temperature is via internet, not a local sensor. Disappointing because I want to put it in a remote location.

Gets good reviews though.

For most, this is overkill as a thermostat but $120 is a great price for what it is. Colour screen, wifi, etc. Lots of good reviews online too.

Was going to get version 2 in the US but $120cad is better then $199 usd for almost the same thing.

Nice thermostat but doesn’t seem to qualify for the $100 energy rebate.

It used to be on the list not so long ago, but now it seems to be gone (at least for Ottawa Enbridge area)

Majority, if not all of these smart tstats uses the Internet for local weather.

The Lyric T5 is on sale for $100 and it's eligible for $100 off rebate, so you just pay HST. Can also PM Lowes/HD for extra $10 off making it almost free.

It is confusing to apply the enbridge rebate through Honeywell site. There are three buttons, clicked the first one "Verify Lyric account". Went through and completed the whole process, but never got a confirmation in any form (no confirmation number, no confirmation web page, no confirmation email). Not sure how that works?

Anyone applied Honeywell T5 previously can confirm/share their experience?

Thanks!
