WalMart IHome capsulated speaker $20 for laptop or Mp3
I got this speaker from WM and BLOWN away with the performance when used with my MP3 player.Sound is full and LOUDER than with my Creative speakers and size in just unbelievable. This is IMHO best solution for Mp3 or laptop sound when portability is main goal.
Keep in mind this is not an audiophile speaker, it is just something you take on the beach and have a small party
Walmart has this gem for only $20 in Black or Silver

Staples sells em too for $30
http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/ca...affixedcode=WW
i read most reviews to be VERY positive esp regarding the size to volume ratio.
they are collapsable, if you didnt know, and powered by built in rechargeable batteries.
is this available in Vancouver BBY too?Last edited by madman604; Jun 24th, 2009 at 02:02 PM.

just got back from Walmart in BBY. its a mono speaker in your choice of silver and black. no stereo option. charged by USB 3 in 1 cable (+audio in)
twist to unlock, built in spring expands speaker.
using it on my ASUS EEE HE. sound pretty darn good. very loud, about 2X the built in speakers. Sound quality is very good. bass is also decent for its size. in compressed mode its poo.
approx 2" in diameter and 2" tall expanded
i will compare it to my creative travelsound200 (2 speakers + 4 AA batts) later
for now i will say this is an amazing self powered speaker for $20
ill bet you could splice a second unit in for stereo sound and less cost than Best Buy
they have a keychain loop to hang the speakers and a protective cloth bag too.
THANKS OP!
i was gonna spend $40 for this on eBay
EDIT: note i just noticed when playing and charging thru my USB, sometimes my USB puts out REALLY BAD interference in the form of a really loud squeeling. unplugging the USB stops it.
EDIT2: tested against the travelsound 200 ($70). not as good, however weighs about 1/4 as much and 1/6th the sizeLast edited by madman604; Jun 24th, 2009 at 11:00 PM.

There was a review of the stereo version in a recent edition of PC World or PC magazine.
They looked the same but I don't think they were IHome. Probably just relabelled.
I'll see if I can find the link in the morning.
They were on a list of must have laptop accessories. I thought it was Boinq or something like that

Found it.
It was Laptop magazine April 2009 and they are Grandmax Tweakers Pull-N-Play Speakers:
www.grandmax.com
I did see the single at Walmart that you picked up about a month or two ago.
