WalMart IHome capsulated speaker $20 for laptop or Mp3

Amazing sound from these speakers! I bought 2 of them and will buy a splitter for stereo sound. Using these with my MSI Wind U100 netbook and they make alot of difference. Thanks OP!

Note: They may be hard to find in the WM aisle as they are hanging on the rack along with other ipod accessories with plastic packaging. Black and Silver ones to choose from. Lots at the WM Lougheed location in Burnaby GVR.

can you charge it through a regular outlet or does it have to be through a computer (Usb) ?

I'm sold if it can be charged through regular outlet.


edit: if it can only be charged through usb, can I use my usb to wallsocket convertor that I got with my iphone to charge it? (basically I want to take it on vacation and be able to charge it and use it- but I won't have a laptop/pc there)

edit2: also how long does the battery last once fully charged (suppose playing on full volume? )

So there were no responses to my questions so I just went and bought it.
Good news. It can be charged through that little box charger you get with your iphone. As I said earlier, when I go on vacation, I'll have my iPhone and charger with me, but won't have a laptop/pc, so I can charge it just using the iphone charger.

TIP: If you don't have an iphone, you can order one of those chargers for a few bucks from dealextreme

Bought one just to try it as I'm looking for something portable without the messy AC cable. Was surprised how well it sounds for one speaker. Will work great for picnics and BBQs!

"reddot design award" is a very prestigious award for innovative products.
That was actually what convinced me that this thing might actually work.

Thanks, OP!! I got one today as well, and LOVE it. The sound really is incredible for such a tiny unit. It is in a small plastic carded unit (like what SD memory cards are encased in) when you look for it; it was hanging up on peg shelving that was holding all of the ipod accessories. You will really be surprised by the small size, when you see if for the first time, for those of you who don't own one.

This one looks like it would be o.k. but it doesn't look like it expands? When the unit expands (from Walmart), that is when the sound is much nicer. For the few dollars more, the $20 Walmart one is probably quite a lot nicer, JMO though. It'd be interesting to see what RFDers think of the DealExtreme model.

Odd question: On the dealexreme model, what the heck is the photo of, (when you click to enlarge the package showing 'portable king?') It looks like a jealous love triangle of sorts, what with the girl in the front, and the guy and girl hugging, etc. just behind them. LOL! I find the packaging to be interesting on so many different dealextreme products. Never a dull moment.

I like the packaging of the stereo version (if it's as it appears in the thinkgeek link: http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/s...68/images/3402)

It's got flat bottoms as opposed to curved bottom of the mono version. Also, it seems like you can attach the two speakers together when not in use. Much better packaging than having two mono versions and a splitter plug.

I bought one and the sound is great but after about 2-3 minutes of use the light turns red and it makes a loud buzzing noise. I guess I got a bad unit.
