Let's be honest, games could be $20 and you'd still pirate.
Let's actually be honest, the games are way overpriced right now. Games like 2 year old mariokart which I was debating to buy at $55, should be $20. If I had the option to hack my console without getting my online access revoked, I would.

The problem with Nintendo games is that they almost never go on sale. It almost seems like they are encouraging piracy imo.

God of War on the PS4 came out in April 2018 and it was on sale last week for $29.96. BOTW and Odyssey came out in 2017 and they are still at $79.99.

lol I don't like pirating, but this I can agree with.

Even "new" games like Let's Go Pikachu shouldn't be $80 plus tax. It's literally the same game we've played 100 times over with slightly different features and updated graphics. It's practically a game of "Spot the Difference".

lol switch has been out for few months now and, nintendo still doesnt have a good stock?
You clearly don't understand market trends. Most the gaming market is experiencing stock price drops right now.
Some of these trends are due to bad decisions by many game developers but this essentially affects the whole market.
EA went from 149 to 85
Ubisoft 24 to 16
Activision 83 to 47
Nintendo 57 to 33
Take two 138 to 104
Sony 61 to 49
Sony hasn't been hit quite as badly since they have other sources of income such as semiconductors.

that's not two year old mario kart...
Mario Kart 8 came out May 29, 2014.

This switch release is just a re-release of a wii-u title.
Should have been $40 two years ago.

I've also been Switch hunting however, there are reports of an updated Switch being released in 2019. Some reports say it will feature better graphics and other reports say it will only be a handheld version of the Switch.

Either ways, I decided to wait till the new Switch drops.

Nintendo is a business not a charity. They chose to put it out for $80 because they felt at that price point they can make the most revenue. And since this nearly 5 year old port has sold close to/over 12 million units, I guess it worked out well for them at the end.

Lol, he/she was referring to inventory, not the stock price.

Yep. Which is why they are nickel and diming people for online service... And going to lose some game sales due to it.

I think we're all aware of that. It's just a matter of perspective. Obviously a business will do what's best for them. It doesn't invalidate our point as consumers: Remakes and old games are overpriced.

EDIT:: Typo

These games still sale like hotcakes at full price, so why would Nintendo bother reducing their prices?

If a console is DOA, Shoppers won't give you a refund or swap it out?? That's messed up. How do people even put up with that in this day and age.
That is correct. You are on your own with Nintendo itself. Good luck explaining that to Nintendo.
My buddy's cousin bought a PS4 from SDM and there were water bottles inside instead of the console itself.
SDM didn't do anything about it.

My friend at bestbuy told me that bestbuy headquarters sent out a memo to pull all switch stock out of inventory from public so that they dont need to price match walmart. LOL
