If Pepsi was smart they would always be less than Coke and would probably make more sales. As we can see they aren't.

I think where people are coming from, is that, a price increase, or saying that we'll never see those sale prices again, is not a HOT DEAL... perhaps this should be in the discussion threads... And can retailers not decide to run their own sales??? Or, I am sure we could see $1.00 off when you buy 2 packs at $3.99, etc... Regardless, if the new regular sale price will be $4, we'll get used to it, just like we did with gas, produce, meat, etc.... but still doesn't make this a HOT DEAL in any way shape or form.

I think unless they are considerably cheaper, people stick with what they like... for $0.50 cheaper, most won't change... Rye and Pepsi, doesn't have the same ring, unfortunately!

if that's true, then places are selling Coke at a loss liter -I'm annoyed with Coke for changing the formula in favour of less sugar (and yes, I confirmed with Coke themselves) so I'll be stocking up until I taste a change, after that, I have to figure out what to drink but safe to say this "deal" won't bring me over to the PEPSI camp. I can appreciate that you are just the messenger, but I have no idea why Pepsi considers this a sale price in any way.
FYI, it's "loss leader".

I don't see the hot? $3.33 for a 12 pack is the highest price I usually get these for. Sometimes I stock up @ $2.99 per pack
Exactly this. And on top of that the Pepsi 12 packs I see these days have 3 bonus cans so we can get 15 packs for $3

To echo sentiments, good info, but not suitable for the "Hot Deals" section. Also despite the new price sets I am sure we'll continue to see better than those prices for sales. You easterners and your 2/$4 at Shoppers all the time on the 710x6, makes me jealous. Unfortunately I haven't seen many 2.99 12pk sales this year so far, 3.33 seems to be the standard sale price now, so I have no doubt it's going up. I always counted on once or twice a year finding a 24pk for $5, Safeway and Co-op would run those and I would stock up. I don't think I've seen that price in over a year though. Sign of the times, I drink too much coke as is but I aint gonna stop. Don't even get me started on the cost of a fine cut of meat.

This is from my Pepsi head office and is the new daily deal that Walmart will have starting this Thurs and regular price everyday afterwards. This takes over the 4 for $6 on the 2L that has been the deal for over the past year. No word on whether our competitor Coke will match it, but for now it seems like it is just us. Just to clarify that this is for all varieties of flavs and not just the regular Pepsi itself.

Just to add more info. You will not be able to get 12p any lower then $3.49 and 710s at $2.25 with new standards help set by Coke. (they are still the bigger pop maker/seller)

Exactly... Coke can tell Pepsi what to sell their stuff for? How about Pepsi sets their own price standard regardless of the competition...

Seems to work well for telco companies.

Ever since they started having the same price, the price of pop has increased.

Whatever one calls it the practice was legalized by the current federal government.

http://www.cba.org/CBA/PracticeLink/12-11-BC/umap.aspx

"By Eric J. Dufour / Peter Esfandiari, Borden Ladner Gervais LLP
As a result of recent amendments to the Competition Act (the “Act”), 1 unilateral
minimum advertised pricing programs (“UMAP Programs”) are now permitted in
Canada subject to certain conditions. Prior to these amendments, UMAP Programs
raised serious risks under the Act’s price maintenance provisions, which were then
per se criminal in nature. 2 The maximum penalty for engaging in price maintenance
under the Act, including through a UMAP Program, was severe and included a fine
in the discretion of the court (i.e., no limit) and/or imprisonment for five years. In
addition, a party injured by an illegal UMAP Program could commence a civil
lawsuit for damages regardless of whether a criminal prosecution had occurred.
Fortunately for producers and suppliers, 3 the Act’s price maintenance provisions
were decriminalized as part of the 2009 amendments to the Act (the “2009
Amendments”)."

is this 12pack of cans or bottles?

if cans,

12*355ml/$4 = 1065ml / $1

yesterday i bought a 6pack coke of 710ml for 3.49 at SDM

6*710ml/3.5 = 1217ml / $1

Ya, the 6 packs of 710ml bottles are almost always cheaper than 12 cans. I stock up when they go on for 1.97
