Sony and Nvidia shield have also included prime and some other exclusive apps in their own modified android TV. But i am not sure about philips.
Most of Android app and games which are not available in Android TV play store can be side loaded using apk files.

I got this one but the color is not right. then talked with Philips technician they said it is defective, so I am returning. The price is good but the quality may not be consistent.
Menu is just ok, Android TV has limited apps available in the playstore. I have not been able to sideload the apk file from USB drive, there might be couple other apps can do it, but too complicated.
