[Walmart] Possible Koodo iPhone SE deal at Wal-Mart Dec 6

I picked up a 32GB iPhone SE at Wal-Mart today for $0 on a $360 Koodo Tab M and got a $200 gift card back. During the checkout process the guy got an email saying there'd be a bonus $50 gift card starting tomorrow, so assuming the base $200 doesn't change that should be a $250 gift card tomorrow.

Assuming you can get switched to seasonal hold and can self-refer the cost is:

$360 phone + $45 for seasonal hold + tax = $457.65 - $250 gift card - $50 self referral = $157.65

Wasn't following the black friday deals so maybe this isn't that hot, but considering they're selling for $150 used getting brand new for that price seems decent.

EDIT: Went back for my adjustment today, and while I was there I double checked and as of 1:30PM it's still $200 GC on Koodo Tab M, and the bonus $50 GC is on for Wed and Thu. From what he said the $50 GC is guaranteed to be on offer for the next two days, but the $200 "base" GC could change either way at any time.

That would be $50 hotter than the black friday deal for the SE. So are you going for an adjustment tomorrow?

I thought we didnt have to do seasonal holds anymore?
When given enough time, all threads on RFD can and will go off on a tangent.

Yeah he told me to come back with my receipt and he'd do a return and re-purchase.

can it be done on tab small + 120 dollars on an upgrade?
Only $100 gift card on tab small unfortunately.

Yeah nothing about clawback in the contract anymore, but I'm not willing to be the guinea pig that actually tries cancelling the next day. If someone else has done that and confirmed no clawback on their final bill, I'd definitely skip seasonal hold.

I was able to get it back in early September.
RFD mods keep changing my signature, and I'm not doing anything malicious. I guess we're not free to speak our minds or share whatever we want.

Can they not tell you whether there will be a clawback when you go to cancel or is it something that the system would just automatically do?

WOW had $200 MC + $75 phone trade in on Tab Medium but that $75 would just go towards accessories. I don't know if I'd have much use for a WM GC... wait til Boxing Day perhaps?

The still have seasonal hold, but technically only after 90 days. I got iPhone 6 for Black Friday at TMS, and tried to put my line on a seasonal hold, but was denied all 4 times I called. Apparently the first CSR I spoke to left a note under my name that I am not eligible for seasonal hold until after 90 days. So they are aware of what we are doing.

There are many ppl who seem to have been successful getting seasonal hold, but I didn’t. So I gave up on it and am trying to decide if I should just cancel and pay off the small tab ($240), or swallow the cost of the cheapest plan ($28 x 3 mos) -$25 referral fee and pay off the tab after 90 days.

The difference between the seasonal hold route and cheapest plan is only $39 plus tax. ($15 x 3 - $25 referral fee -$240 tab small) vs, ($28 x 3) - $25 referral fee - $240 tab small). The difference is only $39 plus tax by going on the cheapest plan, so I might as well do that.

Still disappointing that I couldn’t get seasonal hold... it made the deal not as good for me.

with koodo, all you have to pay when you cancel is the tab so the SE is $0 upfront, $360 on tab, comes with a GC of $250. obviously, can't use GC to pay off tab but in essence, you only pay $200 when its all done (if no referral and cancel right away) for the SE

Does anyone know if I can cancel the contract/plan before I even get the phone?

rule of thumb, best to wait until you get the phone or if buying online, at least wait until you get shipping confirmation otherwise you are not getting the phone for obvious reason (like if you cancel before they ship the phone, it means you didn't want it)
