eSIM works on this prepaid plan, but you must go to certain AT&T stores equipped with the right tools which you can find out by calling each store in your area.

To save on tax, you can top up your account using Calling Mart and also get a discount (plus earn rewards points). https://www.callingmart.com

Confirmed working method is AT&T GOPHONE REFILL - PIN. AutoPay discount is still applied.

Post #1426 summary of steps:
@perfchris
You can buy the flip phone at the walmart, when they scan the upc they also scan the imei number and it is activated.

You DO NOT need to have the walmart person open phone.

You go on att prepaid website and with the sim card that is in the phone you activate service, they ask for a zip code to give you a number, you select a state of your preference. Your phone is activated with a number, it will ask you for the service you want, you choose the 50 dollar plan with autopay.

At this point you DO NOT need to pay for service, you can contact a multi line administrator, and they will attach your number to their multi line plan, you transfer canadian funds to them, you are all set!

You keep the sim card in the flip phone for 5 days, you check your online account, as soon as it says congrats you have 25gb of data you are good to go!

get yourself an esim card and go to an att store and they will transfer your number over to the esim card that will be associated to your iphone.

so we can get it in US and then just use it anywhere in US & Canada? I've never tried this, but I will then have a US number right?

I'm assuming possible with autopay by signing up for a US CC?

Any citation for this? Pretty damn important.

Not that 8GB for $40 is a bad deal or anything. It is still pretty acceptable for people who are using dual sim anyway.

Specifically: Data: Includes 8GB of high-speed data and 17GB of bonus data usage in the U.S., Mexico & Canada. International data roaming may be reduced to 2G speeds.

sure if you consider 2g as data. I tested it with the other plan and considered their 2g useless.

International data roaming in this context means outside of U.S., Mexico & Canada I believe.

I don't think it imply bonus data are not usable in Canada. It clearly specified "Data: Includes 8GB of high-speed data and 17GB of bonus data usage in the U.S., Mexico & Canada." and both normal data and bonus data are high-speed data.

the account will use the "bonus data" first before it uses the 8gb that comes with your plan...unless you have used up all your highspeed data(16 gb from original thread), you would not be using 2G.

and we're talking about roaming in Canada and Mexico, not international.

straight from the site:

8GB high-speed data plus 17GB bonus high-speed data for use in the U.S., Mexico & Canada
After high-speed data allowance is used, speeds are reduced to max of 128 Kbps.

are you saying the data terms are different then the 16gb prepaid plan ? i have the 16gb plan and the way you describe it above is not what happens in reality.

Do you have any plan at all that you could provide data on ?

Is high speed data (in Canada while roaming under this plan) 3G or LTE?
