[Lenovo Canada] Warm - Lenovo IdeaPad s10e: $399.99

Not a killer deal compared to say an Asus, but if you like the styling of the Lenovo then you have to pay the premium.
Still, not too bad a price for an overpriced netbook even though you'd probably have to factor in a HD replacement.
I've been keepig my eye on these and they are usually around $450.

6 Cell Battery is great, 1GB RAM is decent... but 4GB HDD? Seriously? And how easy/expensive is it to upgrade? I can see on the lenovo site, it's $70 or more, but what about aftermarket?

This deal just turned cold for me as I didn't notice that the PDF spec sheet states that the EIDE HD is not removable. I've read reviews that state otherwise but I'm not willing to take the risk. Also it only seems to come in grey which is another dealbreaker. I might call in tmw to confirm all this but it's looking pretty bad.

Looks like Lenovo is sending all the crappy Ideapads that are not selling to Canada.

When the Ideapad s10 first came out, I was so hoping they would make it available in Canada soon thereafter. But then at some point, I got tired of waiting and better products from other companies were introduced.

I saw this post and was curious, even though I didn't want a s10 anymore. I thought Lenovo finally moved their lazy butt and decided to bring the Ideapad line to Canada. What a letdown it turned out to be. They didn't bring the Ideapad line of computers up here; instead, they brought the crappiest Ideapad up here. What an insult.

After very quick research (read: could be wrong), it looks like this is offered in 4GB SSD or 160GB HD options; meaning this deal is for the 4GB SSD apparently?

I put my vote in for the Dell Mini 9. Easy to upgrade (memory -> 2G, ssd drive -> 32G or 64G, wireless -> N, add BT requires dissassembly however, etc). Very good quality vs other brands. Quiet and light weight. The recent BB deal is good @ $299. Dell will probably have even better deals later in Spring ...

What resolution would you prefer? The Asus EEE 1000HE is only 1024x600...does the absence of 24 pixels make or break the screen?

It's will not break the screen, but it will break some application.
So You Can't install due to the lost of that 24 dots...!

Not sure what you mean. Lenovo Ideapad has been officially available in Canada for some months, just not through their own web site. This includes S10, U110/330 and Y430/530/730.

Lenovo Launches Ideapads for Canadian Consumer Market (Dec 2008)

And S10e is their lowest cost, and thus lowest specs model.
