I took some better photos if anyone is interested in buying explorer or and just to show it off lol.
Beautiful watch!

I was looking at the Seiko SARB017 but thought the date window ruined the look. Didn't realize Rolex had something similar LOL.

does anyone know about invicta watches? they have some fairly cheap ones on amazon, amazon says the retail price is $695.00 amazon price is only $99.95 and i looked on other sites like peoples jewelers and they have some of the same or similiar watches but the prices are slightly more like $114.95 instead of $99.95 but they don't show the suggested retail price, and I know costco carries some invicta watches but i am just wondering if indeed they are any good and why they sell so cheaply if invicta sets the retail prices so high

I suspect those prices were grossly inflated. My wife bought me an Invicta quartz chronograph once from a store in the US. The chrono would not reset itself properly. The watch was fugly to begin with. And she thought it would make a nice birthday gift!

I ended up donating it to Goodwill lol.

Think they have been covered many times here. The brand has way over inflated MSRP to give the illustration that they are more exclusive than them really are, since they are always sold at a deep discounted price. Their watches sometimes come with a swiss mov’t but it still doesn’t justify the MSRP price since they don’t have a high collectable value at all. Their style are usually copy from more known brands so another reason collectors don't seem have much respect for them.

Service and parts are hard to come by and reliability is mixed so not considered a good buy. For the price, it is better off to buy from a real Watch Brand (ie seiko/citizen) for those reasons alone.

Been looking at that watch too. Not sure I'd want to blow $500 on a watch though. This is the watch in case anyone is interested.

You canno go wrong with Seiko Sarb line. 017 is really popular and not many green dial watches out there. good taste. Worth $500 for sure! You can find used one though for less albeit come up seldomly (proof owners love it).

if you dig exploreisque look there is a well known homage to explorer 1016 by Smiths company called Everest. Google it! Lots of reviews and pics online.

Curious what something like this would resell for?
Good condition with box and papers, I'd guess around $4-4500. I've seen lightly beat up ones go in the ~$3500 range

If it's stainless steel, 2nd hand of a 10y one should be around $4000 or less because a brand new one is $6500 I believe. The same one with half gold is $11000 brand new.

I did not know that there was a two tone explorer. I guess you are referring to the new datejust.
