For less than 4k, let me plug the Tudor black bay line. In house movement, 70 hour power reserve, cool retro styling and not something worn by every douchebag in a suit or porno director. Check out my pics in this thread.

For a more sporty look, check the Tudor pelagos.

For 10k, I would get a Glashutte Original senator automatic, as a classic dressy watch.

No.
Thanks for the Tudor idea! Completely forgot the Black Bay was now an in-house movement.

If she wants to go the diver route there's probably no better value for money at this price point!

Note that the Black BAy is the "dressy" option, while the Pelagos is the functional option. It has the micro adjustment bracelet that the Subs do. These are thick watches by the way.

I also like the North Flag, but it gets little press:

The Oris diver's 65 is really nice too, but far too cheap by your standards :)

Thank you so much for your taste input as I rely on a stranger like you on the internet for all of my decisions......

I do not know what I would do without strangers like you.

Something about the date window on that North Flag just screams "unfinished" to my eyes - otherwise an amazing watch...AFAIK it was the first one with Tudor's in house movement

All this helping other people has got me lusting after an Explorer I 39mm

I can't speak highly enough of Citizen Ecodrive movements. They are rock solid. I have 4 and none have missed a beat* Lifetime warranty on the power cell. Never change a battery.
I have the following:
Promaster Professional Diver Dark Blue Dial Men's Watch BN0151-09L
Citizen Men's AW1424-54L Endeavor
Citizen Men's AW1361-01E Sport Analog Display

I'm leaning towards the GMT as I find it useful and it's not in your face. But there's just something about the smurf and the gaudy gold looks really great with a suit imo. What do you guys think?
The steel version is black and blue. Very classy and understated. My favorite rolex of them all.

Big wait time though.

Yeah thinning down the collection as o don't really rotate. Might as well get one nice one for work and a weekend/vacation watch.

I was recently asking about the Seiko cocktail watch a few pages back but realized it was too big for a dressy watch.

Instead I figured what the heck and bought the watch I've wanted for years, a SMP.

Brown alligator strap currently in the process of being made!
