Sounds about right. But I never bought a watch for than 600$ from any of these places. Not sure I would buy 6k Grand Seiko sight unseen
Yeah I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable spending Grand Seiko money on a sight unseen purchase. That's why I bought my GS from a local dealer, even though I knew I could have purchased it online for cheaper.

I should also mention that shoppinginjapan provides an option to mark your item as a 'gift'. This requires you to send the money via bank transfer. I tried this once but the process didn't go as smoothly as expected, due to some unexpected service fees charged by the receiving bank.

There are people out there that buy a watch not caring what others think. If you are buying a watch to flash around, then it's one of the top bad reasons. 99% of the people you run into do not care what you wear unless it's an enthusiast. You get more comments wearing a bling bling fashion watch versus say a Grand Seiko for example.
so true. I've never gotten any comments about any of my watches from non-watch people. Usually somebody else around me with their $100 watch gets the "nice watch" comments.

Here's the complete list of comments I've gotten about my watches that I remember.

- Rolex Explorer - Is that a Rolex? (2 times)
- Marathon GSAR - is that a Marathon? What kind is it? I'm looking for one (twice).
- Speedy Pro - that looks nice, what is it?
- Rolex DateJust - I got a watch for my 21th birthday that looks just like yours
- TAG Heuer - Nice TAG. (a few people)

That's it. If I was in it for the recognition as a status symbol, I failed miserably.

So if you want a watch that impresses people, buy a TAG or Marathon.

I've had more comments on my daily beater Oris than my Zeniths/Glashutte Original, lol

Most people can't even pronounce Glashuette original, let alone recognize it.

Column wheel?
Yeah, column wheel. Not sure if it makes a difference price wise when servicing vs a 7750 with cam and lever.

Besides amazon/ebay where can I get myself a 22mm nato/zulu strap in the GTA?

Preferably in store so that I can pick and choose the best color combination for my skx

The watch shop at the Bay Queen street sells straps, don't think they have natos/zulus though. You're going to have a tough time finding a shop that sells mainly nato straps. I would just buy it online. A skx would literally go with anything. If it's a skx007, I would get a bond nato first.

There's thousands of images on the web with a SKX and Nato combination. Just have a look!

Just received this in the mail today from Japan. Finally bit the bullet on the 3rd generation Seiko Monster. I really wanted the orange but that was next to impossible to acquire. I like the current iteration. The look is more balanced imo. The jury is still out on the cyclops though.

The cyclops is too much on an already busy bezel. If it were mine I'd remove it and then I think it looks great.
