Thanks for the feedback. I don't love the small size and the "23 jewels" on the face of the SARB033. I'll have to think about it and (as I thought) it sounds like it's just a personal and wallet preference.

My daily so far after getting married is a 41mm watch with a brown strap so I'm looking for something that is black face or black strap.

In the same style, check the Orient vintage power reserve

Grand seiko's are nice, but I'd rather get a tudor and maybe get a sinn with the difference.

Any tips on negotiating price on a watch? Example, if retail value is 1200, can I say Ill buy it right now for 1050 or 1100? I know its up the discretion of the retailer but how much less is reasonable?

There is a seller on yahoo japan auctions named 'seiko638' who is currently selling a whole bunch new old stock Seiko's, including boxes and papers. There are some very impressive pieces on his list.

Pure sex
as with all grand seikos, they look way better in the metal. IMO the old ones with the seiko logo at the top of the dial looks better than the new ones where it's only GS - has a certain japanese charm with the repeated Seiko, GS, Grand Seiko all on the same dial. .

I would agree if we are talking about a diver - GS divers are caught somewhere between too fancy and too bulky

Just received this in the mail today from Japan. Finally bit the bullet on the 3rd generation Seiko Monster. I really wanted the orange but that was next to impossible to acquire. I like the current iteration. The look is more balanced imo. The jury is still out on the cyclops though.

How are you liking it? I just got into watch collecting maybe 2 months ago, and am really sad that all these cool Seiko models that I now want were discontinued 6 months to a year before I got into the hobby. Basically no more monsters. I've been looking at this one on ebay, usually around 600 CAD from Japanese ebayers. How much did you get yours for?

Then you will appreciate this.

I performed a transplant on the black bay last night:

I like it. The design is more balanced versus the first 2 iterations imo. I would've preferred it without the cyclops but I stopped noticing it after awhile. I bought it through amazon for $772 cdn all in. Could've bought it for cheaper but I didn't want to deal with $ conversion and possible duties. I received it within 5-6 days of my order. Here's the link:
