WATCH OUT -> GREATVACATIONDESTINATIONS.COM OR GVD !!!
To give you some background info :
They will call you and say you won a travel package to florida, bahamas, las vegas and some cities together but they would charge you $ 398 USD per person. Usually, they took info's like phone numbers, emails from the ballot you entered at a trade show, seminar, community centre and here is my story :
http://www.greatvacationdestinations.com
I think i am the newest guy who get scammed by GVD. They told me i filled out a ballot at a community talent show in Markham, Ontario (They finally came north of GTA in Ontario). They called me at 7pm today and their is a girl called Katrina, they told me i won the same GVM028 package and same story as everyone does and lastly she ask me for credit card number to secure this reservaion. I said if it was free why she insist me for a credit card, she told me this is just for reservation, I gave it to her (i am so damn stupid…=() and then the $ 798 USD sales pitch came up. I was heartbreaked that this girl did not tell me earlier after she got all the credit info from me. I told her I dont want the package and cancel it and she said it is already being processed. I said cancelled it once more and she hung up and she sounds mad. 3 minutes later, a guy called Greg called back and said he is the credit officer and said I owed them $ 798 USD and said I have to pay it, I said NO to him and he said “I am sorry but you are going for the vacation for sure so dont play games on us !” with a pressured and very unpolite manner. He makes me to record the transaction and hung me up right away after he reads my info once again with the info he got from his side. Now, I am already fraustatred about it because after i browsed thru this website on how this company tried to scammed people. I will call the customer service line for a refund tomorrow morning and see what they will do . I also prepare a letter that can be sent out anytime if they do not comply with my request. I hope someone can setup a website that can help to identify these scammers. Forget to mentioned, GVD uses this number 647-438-4333 to called you or displayed as ” Private Number” on your call display. So, if you seen this number, be careful and dont answer the call. I think they do have other outbound unknown numbers too…If anyone posted some more, the community would be greatly appreciated !!!

Mention how you just got out of prison for credit fraud two weeks ago and ask if that will affect anything.

Don't you just love idiots that come on here and act like they're immune to these things with their own stupid brand of sarcasm?
It's not as simple as the OP says. These guys are professional scammers and they do it for a living. They are very manipulative and very good at it. You'd be a fool to shrug this off and pretend that it couldn't happen to you.
My advice is this, call these guys once more and try to get them to cancel. If they don't threaten them that you'll do a chargeback on your credit card (I believe merchants can only get so many chargebacks on their accounts before they're revoked - correct me if I'm wrong). If that doesn't work, call the credit card company and try to get them to do a chargeback. You might have to fight but you should win (unless of course, they actually recorded you agreeing to the transaction, then it could be considerably much more difficult).
In my experience, Mastercard has been really good at chargebacks, while Visa (CIBC specifically) CSRs seem to be clueless to even what a chargeback is.
Good Luck!

Don't deal with them any further - call you CC company and get a chargeback.
Why put yourself through the stress of calling them again?

OP - did you call you CC for a chargeback? Might want to contact some type of consumer rights agency too.

As others have mentioned, call your CC company immediately, if not sooner. They are probably all too familiar with this sort of scam and the sooner you contact them, the better.
Even if they do have you recorded agreeing to buying something, under ontario law, you are allowed a 10 day cooling off period. Check out this page:

If they give you grief, read them the riot act and ask for an address where you can send the necessary paperwork to prepare legal proceedings. That will shut them up real quick. (I did that with impark once, but that's another story)

Yeah, I have gotten these calls on many occasions. If it's too good to be true it probably is.

Reason enough to be carefull about what contests you enter. I see these contest boxes for "win a vacation" all over different events and it looked "scammy" from the start. I saw all of these people entering the contest and I was thinking "poor you for giving up your information like that".
I can not imagine working at a job like these guys scamming people. I got a call one day from this guy scamming with the fake "business directory listing". A co-worker had agreed to adding the listing (i.e. she was pressured....) and when I started talking to him I gave him a mouthfull... I was like "How can you work at a place like this scamming people"... well, he had an answer for that too. Thing is, now these scammers call even more often....I guess if they figure they almost got you once, they will try again!

also, read the post #135 from this page:

"Hi,
got contacted by great vacation destination, too fell for it and after a few hours regret my decission.
I called them this morning and in an “okay” conversation did the representative agree on cancelling my package and that I will be refunded in the next 7-10 business days. I also contacted my credit card holder.
She agreed to this quickly, after I mentioned my rights and the law of Florida. She wasn’t happy about it, try to sell it for a lower price but I didn’t go for that one.
Now I hope that I will be refunded. Should I still sent the letter?
advive and feedback welcomed"
Good Luck.

Happen to a buddy of mine. Me being a bank manager at the time I just told him to call his visa co. adn tell them that you lost your credit card and to not let anything go threw without your authorization. It worked.
The scammer called my buddy up and said that there was something wrong with is CC. So my buddy told him to F--- Off!!!!!
Other option is to contact the BBB see what they say.
Good luck

My parents got a call from them too after filling in some ballot. Luckily they didn't fall for it.
