I've been with Wawanesa for about 2 years now. They had the cheapest rate until this year but I stuck with them because the savings were negligable from the other company.
I haven't had to claim before so I cannot speak to their service but the rates seem to be pretty good.

Good insurance company. Very easy to deal with when you have a claim. Fast, good service.

Been with them for 15 years now. The times that I have had to put through a claim have been very smooth. My rates are low and I receive great service, no reason to change I suppose.

guys thanks for all the updates. I think I will be going with them. My broker tells me they are fine to deal with also, but they are a pain with their processing of claims which is longer then the normal, otherwise very decent. Has anyone that made a claim had a longer then normal period to wait for the payment or things to start rolling?

I was with Wawanesa until I had to make a claim. I was hit by some kid in a parking lot that had no insurance and totalled my car. It took about 2 months to settle my claim.
After I bought another car I called them for a quote and it was so high I couldn't believe it. They said it was because of my accident even though it wasn't my fault.
So now I am with Belair and am paying half of what I was quoted with Wawanesa. I also moved my home insurance to Belair and am paying half for that also with way more coverage.
And guess what. I am still getting insurance quotes every year from Wawanesa for the car that was totalled.
Their filing system is a little screwy wouldn't you say?

Terrible!
I've been with Wawanesa for a number of years and all went well as long as I didn't have any claims. Things changed when a neighbor dropped a tree through my fence ad inflicted quite a bit of damage to my back yard and patio, not to mention the fence itself.
Wawanesa suggested that I should accept some sort of a patch-up job the kind one would appreciate seeing in the "Red-Green show". I live in a house that's worth close to a million and the kind of "repairs" Wawanesa suggested are not suitable for the neighborhood I live in and do not reflect the insurance I paid for. I will probably repair the damages at my own cost and for sure, cancel the insurance with Wawanesa, both for my house and for my business and that I will take them to court.
My honest advice: Stay away from this company!!!!!

I found many other companies that offered better service.

im with wawanese and they are terrible. my 5 month old car was scratched all long the side when out visiting a friend. i got a bunch of quotes and it averaged about $3000 in damage. took 3 weeks of dealing with wawanese as they never answer the phone and take a few days to return a call... plus they lost my police statement. finally i got their damage apprasial which was only $1600. WTF!
i've been trying to get in touch with them this past week and a half and they havent returned my calls.

I have had them for years now and no problems.
Last year I had 3 claims. two hit and runs in a parking lot and one Keying.
The claims where all within a 4 month period.
There service was great. my insurance covered a rental car. I had no problem with the appraiser. He came to my apt building when it was convient for me.
No problem with me choosing the repair shop and no questions over the cost of the repairs from this shop. (its a well known shop in the area so that might have helped.)
Best part is after those 3 claims I got my renwal and no increase in rates.
