Way to download streaming videos from BNN.ca?

Hey all.

I'm trying to find a way to download a streaming video from the BNN.ca (Business News Network) site, but all the usual Firefox video downloader addons can't seem to snag it (DownloadHelper, Fast Video Download, Flash Video Downloader, etc.) because that site isn't on their supported list.

Does anyone have any other ideas for how I may be able to get it? It's the clip located after the ad here, if that helps: http://watch.bnn.ca/tuesday/clip193170

Thanks a lot!

There are firefox addons for doing this. You'll have to search on firefox's site, I don't remember the names offhand. There's at least 4 diff addons.

It's hard to read a single paragraph, saltyvinegar?

Technically it's streaming this video file: http://cp45897.edgefcs.net/ondemand/bnn ... 4_FF15.flv

Only it's not http, it's rtmp (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Time_ ... g_Protocol) Google is telling me that this app will download it: http://www.orbitdownloader.com/rtmp-dow ... p-free.htm

So try it with this url: rtmp://cp45897.edgefcs.net/ondemand/bnn2/news/2009/07/14/20090714_FF15.flv

Has anyone actually been able to get this to work?

Being a fan of bloomberg and bnn.ca been playing with it for last couple of days with little success.

Orbit Downloaded:
Looks like great program. Configured and used the Grabbit ++ option to try and find the video it would read and load the videos in its window but would all stall or timeout at 0% DL. Thus no success.

HIDownloader7:
There advertising said it would cover streaming form bnn --> http://www.hidownload.com/HiDownload-Fi ... ctions.htm
http://www.rlslog.net check here for latest working versions.

But was quite clearly false advertising. Program recommended up-selling or product augmentation to URL Helper. used the freeware unregistered version off the HiDownloader website, as there instructions recommended. It still would not find the actual video files to be DL.

Again they recommended another product, FLVRecorder, they sell. Starting to think it was big scam to purchase more of their crappy software.
http://www.flvrecorder.com/Can-not-find ... mputer.htm
Downloaded their latest version for Vista/windows 7 form their website.
Alternately have it on good authority this **omitted

Had problem with the network card interface and wincap software it installed. Just re-installed wincap fresh and ran as admin. After reboot. Opened the HiDL 7, then URL Helper3 and then FLVRecorder. Clicked the options button and added my exact internet interface (1 of 3) options with the trippledot button. Mention this because it is counter intuitive. Refresh the web page and success.

Success.

Summary:
1. Just use FLV recorder even if i used all three of HiDL7 programs.
2. disable firewall/antivirus cause kapersky blocks traffic through proxies.
3. Turn on recorder , then start browser. Tested on IE and Firefox.
4. it records all flash that comes up, but you can figure it which is which after
5. the App crashes a bit, but only one that works after trying 5 different companies / apps.

good luck.

I just spent the evening trying to make this work as DH is an avid fan...

I used: http://applian.com/replay-video-capture/welcome6.php

I've only tried the freeware, which only records like 1 min before it asks you to buy the software, but so far so good.

For alternatives, try some of the suggestions on this site:

+1 on this. I've been using the app for years now. Just trying it on the OP's clip and it's downloading now. It records in real time so it will take over 14 mins to grab it.

EDIT: Got it downloaded. You can grab it from here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/2aolnp

It's still in FLV format.

Currently running WinHTTrack on BNN, particularity interested in the market call shows. But I have my doubts it will actually grab the flash videos. Did anyone actually to manage passive websites + flash video downloading? This would be great to have the files on one's mobile.
