That's ok, I don't want it back, the joy of seeing their housing market go to **** because they can't get cheap wood is payment enough. (which in turn hurts other parts of their ecconomy) and we can make more money using our forests for other things then we can by cutting it down.

I'm really confused.
What does McDonalds haev to do with Lumber.
And who the hell eats at McDonalds anyways to begin with?
This makes as much sense as this:
Lets take a stand against the illegal war in Iraq. Boycott Bell Canada!
There is clearly a better reason to boycott McDonalds forever, water Super Size Me.Last edited by B0000rt; Nov 16th, 2005 at 07:16 PM.

Boycotting the Canadian side of McDonald's just doesn't seem to make sense here.
Kids got the right idea but wrong target.

mc donalds uses a lot of tree by products in their restaurants (burger and drink boxes, napkins, employees
, and in places like south america, they wipe out forests to raise cattle.

The softwood lumber dispute is an issue that desperately needs more international attention. How many gross offenses can the United States commit against international law before other nations step in? Apparently, quite a lot.
It's really rough around the edges, but the kids who run the site have their hearts in the right place...
How is that a valid analogy?

This isn't true at all. McDonald's is a franchise. The majority of McDonald's franchises in Canada are owned by Canadians... I actually read an article on this this morning in the Ottawa Citizen, that was written by one of these Canadian owners.

That's the link for it, but unfortunately you need a subscription to read it (which I don't have). In any case, that's the jist of it. Although I'm sure a certain percentage of their gross profits due to go to the franchise, it is a franchise, owned and operated by Canadians.

They haven't violated International Law. In fact I believe that the WTO recently agreed with their arguments, no? They may have violated NAFTA, but that is outside of the WTO.

Why would you feel entitled to money that was taken from private corporations? Whether legally, or illegally.
