raw definitely gives you the extra insurance in dynamic range. it's an argument that's beat to death. it's all a matter of if you can get exposure/wb right *every time* and I understand wedding photography moves very quickly. If you can, then it's up to your personal style if you like the in-camera processing or if you prefer to post process in your own style on LR or PS. You may save one step in your workflow shooting in jpg, but that's debatable since some say it doesn't take them any longer to process raws vs jpegs....to each their own

Some people are magicians behind the lens. There's some excellent photographers on this forum who shoot JPG because they're dialed in.

When you are using that damn canon 580EX flash in a dark room firing away quickly at a couple one in white the other in a dark suit, and that flash over exposes or under randomly. You'll realize why I shot RAW for my sister's wedding and for other "events" where people are dress formally.
At the Hong Fook event my GF shot in jpeg cause I didn't want to post process too many shots. I couldn't adjust the exposure for sh*t after. People's skin colors changed when I tried and they started looking like they were a sickly purple color.

That's why you shoot RAW +JPEG(large fine), most shots work out, and the ones that don't you have an image you can correct.

I wouldn't trust a wedding shooter who uses jpeg only. Lighting conditions in churches, halls, outdoors, etc are all too dynamic to trust your equipment to get it right every time, and the event itself moves too fast to take metered readings as you go.
Sports on the other hand? jpeg all the way.

LOL.... I guess the date would help. It's gonna be either June 18 or Aug 21. We are finalizing details with the venue before setting the date.

Hope you settle on a date really soon, May to August are the busiest months of the year for weddings and as well for all of the accompanied services providers.
