The only thing that I can see is the priorities of an 18 year old might be much different than a 21 year old. Somebody who is close to completing secondary education or in the middle of secondary education is probably mostly concentrating on that.

Somebody who is 18 and just about to finish highschool is probably just relaxing and not worrying about much.

To me, a 3 year age gap is nothing. It's their priorities that might be an issue for the individuals involved. So, as mentioned in the OP, a 26 year old might have the same mindset and priorities as a 29 year old.

It should be ok now but not necessary later on Smiling Face With Open Mouth
You can always ask somebody who experienced this eg. French President

Go for it.

The bottom line is at the end of the day u gotta be who YOU are so nothing else matters.

It's like that Hemingway book "The Old Man and the Sea" when the girl asked why the old man didn't let the fish go and The Equalizer said "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish. Gotta be who you are in this world, no matter what."

Maybe you are compatible maybe you aren't but it's kinda pointless talking about it because whether you're compatible or not at the end of the day you still gotta be who you are. So if 2 people are in a relationship the best thing they can offer one another and themselves is to be who they are, and when they can do that they can see for what is real and still come out on top regardless of the outcome

My gosh. Age is just a number, and 3 years apart? Who cares.

I did it. First wife was 16 and I was 18 (close to 19) when we started dating. Married when I was 23 and she was 21. About 2 and 3/4 years difference.

My (current and forever) wife and I are 6 years apart. I'm pretty immature so it works fine.

That’s sweet.

Yet another poster saying it's no biggie.
The richest 1% of this country owns half our country’s wealth, 5 trillion dollars, one-third of that comes from hard work, two-thirds comes from inheritance, interest on interest accumulating to widows and idiot sons, and what I do.. <find the rest>

It's not weird at all. Do high school girls like to make a couple with Univ students? I think, yes.
However, the situation seems a bit weird if he is 18 yo and she is 21 yo, and it's going to be more different in a few years.
My husband is 9 years older than me and we are fine, but I'm far from 18, lol.

Also check out how much of a match you two are in the Chinese astrology. Try here. Or look it up elsewhere on the web.

Theodora Lau has written an excellent book about Chinese Astrology.
Anyone could write a book about Chinese Astrology. Matching is just a matter of luck, so has nothing to do with Astrology. IMHO

Never judge a book until you've read it.
I was not. My point is not about this very book.

I was wondering, how is it viewed for an 18 year old to date a 21 year old? Is it considered common or fine? Is the age gap too much?
1. No view. Please don't kiss in public or hug it out on an escalator ride.

2. Fine. I don't know if it is common. It is hard to tell how old people are sometimes.

3. No. Even when you get older the age gap is still fine.

As long as you two spend quality time together, are honest with each other and really get to know each other, then all is good. Hopefully, the two of you are a good match. Have fun!
