I have AdAway but the app prompts me that on data (vs. wifi), it will be less effective.

From one comment,
AdAway + Firefox + AdBlocker = Best mobile browsing experience on earth.
I did not have good experience with AdFree but maybe the problems have been resolved.

Adfree + Firefox + Adblocker is what I use. Not a problem at all.

Looks good. The ad on the speedtest app is now gone.

Probably one more needed for airpush ads unless the two combined cover that already.

If your device is rooted, use ad-free or variant to change the host file. This blocks ads across all apps.

I've used Ad-Free and AdAway. Both do the same thing of adding filters in your host file. What I don't understand is how AdAway bloated to 2.4MB. The previous version was 1.3MB. Ad-Free is <500KB.
edit// Okay, looking more at AdAway, I think it has some extra features that Ad-Free doesn't have, such as logging TCP requests. Handy
.

Anyone have startup manager free version? It seems none of the ad blockers are able to remove the ads within this app.

I've used the built in ad blocker in ROM Manager, that works too (though I don't have many apps with ads).

I think for AdAway to work properly you need Busy Box installed no?

I've used AdAway for a year, and haven't seen any ads, via wifi or LTE data.
