Is it a good deal applying for the RBC British Airways Platinum and getting 15,000 bonus BA Miles and 2,500 upon renewal with $165 annual fee?

If I can cancel the card after 6 months will they take the bonus miles away?

What do you think people?

Not really. Get the Avion which is $120 annual fee, and gives you 10,000 RBC Reward points on enrollment. Wait for the 50% BA transfer promo and you'll get your 15,000 BA points, plus the ability to basically get 1.5 BA points per $1 when transferred during this promo.

Do you have a link on this promo because what I see in RBC's website is just 2500 bonus points.

Maybe the 10k points was a promo, but it was active a few months ago. I'd wait for that in any case.

The only reason to get this card is if you fly business class on British Airways *all* the time. If you're going back and forth to London quite often (or heaven forbid, you're crazy enough to transit through Heathrow on BA on a regular basis) then maybe this card is for you. And even then, the only real advantage over Avion (where you can effectively get 1.5/$1 on BA) might be the annual companion ticket.

Bump.

Just checked today, they have a pretty good bonus now. 12,500 when you sign up, and 2,500 more when you renew for the first time.

Looks like a good opportunity for me to trade up from my RBC rewards card and then trade in all of my points for a big pile of BA points when that 1.5x offer (hopefully!) comes back.
