What is the best deal you’ve gotten from RFD?

I have a feeling the HP tablet fire sale will be mentioned a few times but interested to see what else is out there. I’d have to say my initial Public Mobile 12gb/$120 every 90 days as it got me onto my current Koodo 6gb/$40 monthly plan.
If it’s not at least 50% off is it really a deal?

Not me personally, but a few years ago Acura had a lease deal for an Acura TLX AWD, for $385/month all in.
Quite a few members were able to get the deal

Wow! Totally missed it.

As for me, probably the Reebok.ca error where clearance was 30% off but instead 30% of the price was given, and there was a stackable couple.

Back in May 2012, $472 for a brand new X220 thinkpad due to a price error. Glad I got the i3 because all the i5 & i7 were rejected by lenovo later on for others. Bought 2

I was going to say the Free Pixel XL upgrade from a Nexus 6P, but I got that from reddit first then posted it here, so it doesn't quite count.

This month - Prime day 12TB HDD for $200
This year - Not exactly RFD but related since i only went to LD due to someone on RFD posting about them having LG OLED sale in Jan. Managed to score a Samsung 75mu8000 + TXNR757 reciever for $2495 + tax talking with a sales manager who really wanted my money lol.
Last year - Toss-up but i guess Hisense 65" Roku (r6107) TV on boxing day for $750 + tax + $60 warranty (for 5 yrs total) over Sony 75 x850e (IPS panel for gaming) for $2500 + tax - 10% BB GC (BB VIP sale)
2016 - Probably PS4 Pro @ SDM for $400 + tax and ~$150 or so in points (close to release day), only hot deal to it being a better deal than pretty much all other deals for PS4 pro 2 years later (except pretty much stacking the same promos but 2 years later...). Not sure if it was posted on RFD but i only went looking for that deal due to learning about SDM's point system from RFD (during Vita/3DS 20x points).

All time, i think best deal might be a Dell Axim PDA x51v. Price error on Dell/posted on RFD (just before i headed to school lol) that was honored @ i think 50% off (like $300 with all accessories/2nd battery vs ~$600+). Best since its one of the few price error that was honored and i used it for years (and still use it as a MP3 player sometimes). Basically a pre-tablet, tablet for me and useful for showing off in highschool... lol. Played games on it @ lunch and since it wasn't a phone, no teacher cared. Plus i started researching a lot on coding/messing around on it (basically started me on the path i'm on today).

Excluded - Trade in deals since most of those were just flipping (when RV/BBV were closing out, BB started accepting trade ins) since that would be in a completely different category. And that was really a bunch of different deals linked together (say buying section 8 @ RV for $15 @ B1G1 then flipping it to BB @ $35 each or getting NHL 2k for $20 @ EB then trading it @ RV for $35 and combining that meant one could turn $20 @ EB -> $70 @ BB + 5 left over credit @ RV and points there too). Also excluded price error/GC since the saving for those are $25 (a few times from BB) on whatever else i would buy so the savings weren't exactly big in terms of number (but percentage is infinite since i spent $0 to get $25 lol).

Although I didn't jump on, Sears mattress deal has to be best deal in the history of RFD

HP tablet fire sale was actually horrible deal.
It was hot deal at the time, but we over paid for a paper weight.
It was too heavy to be used like tablet, it had O/S that isn't going to get any apps and support.
I used it for couple of hours max and dumped it on Craigslist.

Second best deal is being too late On a deal and missing out, thus saving my money

Too numerous, but my favorite was pricematching a 50” Pioneer Kuro (5080 model) at visions, which futureshop was clearing out.

Visions resisted, as 10% off the low $1300 price futureshop had would put them below cost.

To add icing on the cake when I came back the next day to pickup the TV, apparently they ran out of 5080’s (the 768p model), and the manager appologized with a free update to the 5010 (the 1080p model), which was listed at $5k at the time.

I still have that kuro plasma in my bedroom, and honestly the blacks, motion, and natural color still fantastic, it was truely ahead of its time back in 07”

Obviously 4k, HDR, Oled, now beats it, but it took a good 10yr for tv tech to really bring the overal image quality above what the Kuro could produce back then.

RBC Direct Investing had a promo that gave people 1% of all assets transferred to their brokerage accounts. So, I transferred my RRSP and cash account. That was a hell of a pile of money for a couple of hours worth of paperwork.

Thanks again to whoever posted that deal!

I can beat that.

I too transferred from TD Waterhouse to RBCDI in order to get the 1% promo. Then a few months later, after RBCDI paid the 1% bonus, TD Waterhouse called to offer me another 1% to move my assets back. As the guy I spoke with put it, "There's no way RBC is going to steal our customers."

Also RBCDI reimbursed me for TDW's transfer out fees and then later TDW reimbursed me for RBCDI's transfer out fees.

Nice!

The other really lucrative deal that was floated on RFD was roughly around 2011 when somebody noticed that MBNA was offering a CC with 1.99% cash advances for the life of the card's balance! If I recall correctly, I took a $17.5k advance and seven years later I still owe more than $10k at 1.99%. I invested the proceeds and my gains have far outstripped the 1.99% interest costs!

Thanks again to whoever found that deal!

Free $100 in 2010, in the famous way to turn $100 gaming credit at BC Lotteries' online casino playnow.ca into cash every time, by betting on both the player and banker at baccarat.

Scotiabank Amex Gold signup bonus in spring 2017 was good too, $300 statement credit and $75 Amazon gift card, no annual fee for first year.

Yes, we shouldn't forget all of the great credit card welcome bonuses that have been posted over the years. Many of us made good use of the MBNA Sony credit card offers, to say nothing of Amex churning or Aeroplan CC churning! I've churned through dozens of credit cards over the years, most of which had a welcome bonus worth a few hundred bucks.
