What is the best free web-based solution for my needs?
I want to gradually build a searchable database which I will use to track institutions, individuals, and those individuals' research. It will have roughly 10,000 entries.
I want to be able to label each of the database entries and quickly bring up all the individuals who I've tagged with a certain label. Also, it should be searchable.
Currently I'm using a wordpress blog to do this, and making a new blog entry for each new institution, individual, and piece of research. But I don't like that it's public, and also it's very bloated and cumbersome; I prefer something more like a spreadsheet with expandable, collapsable, sortable, printable data at my fingertips. I don't mind bloat if it makes the interface more user friendly, but really a blog is not the ideal medium for this project I don't think.
I'd prefer if it's web-based so that I can access it from anywhere, regardless of what OS I'm running, and also protects me somewhat if my computer dies.
Honestly I think what I'm describing here is the most basic type of database in the world; I just need one that's web-based and free
Does anyone have any ideas?
One that I am considering is this: http://baseportal.com/index.html

Is there a very easy way to do this given no prior knowledge of HTML or MYSQL? And no personal webspace or personal website. Thanks.
