I'm actually a Commerce student taking a minor in Poli Sci, but am finding I'm getting better marks in Poli Sci, and am more interested in those classes. I'm about halfway through my fegree and am tring to decide weather to flip my arangement. ie Poli Sc degree with a minor in Business/Finance. It's so hard to know what you'll be happy doing, and I don't want to waste my time and regret it. One thing for me to consider is that at Mac I can do a second degree in Poli Sci after I graduate an it's only a year (or 2 for honours which if I do I can also get a minor in Environmental Studies which interests me), where as Commerce you can't do as a second degree. I'd have to do an MBA (which is more expensive) My current goal had been to become a licensed Financial Planner.
AHHHHHHHH?!![]()
Anyway just looking for some experiences from those who have Political Science degree.

Stick with Commerce, take the hit in slightly lower marks...you'll get many more job offers with a commerce degree than you will with a Poli-Sci degree.
Keep the minor though._______________

Yeah I'll probably keep going. I'd still like to hear from anyone who has a poli sci degree cus I might still get one after grad to keep my options open if I want to get out of finance in the future.

my husband has a poli sci degree from Laurier with a minor in communications.
Although he loves poli sci - there aren't too many jobs at the bachelors level. A couple of his poli sci friends went on to law school, some got masters and very few got jobs in public policy for the government
My husband ended up going to Seneca to do the post-grad certificate in corporate communications. Worked in PR/marketing for about 4 years.
And now he's back in teachers college...
Although he loves poli sci he says he'd have gone the business route for employability. Someone's gotta pay the rent

You need to put the poli sci to use if you want a job in the field. Become active in the political process and network all you can.
I'm a poli sci grad and now do policy work._______________

You definately need to get some post degree stuff to be more employable with that degree, unless you want to work at starbucks.
Commerce will be way more in demand. Definately way more flexible in terms of career paths. -sg

You can be a professional liar (politician) if you fit the profile of talking out of both sides of your mouth for a living.
